IMPORTANT UPDATE (posted by request of Ride Captain Randy Dunn):
I just got off the phone with RC Randy Dunn, and due to paperwork issues the flight from Dover and subsequent escort from Lambert Airport will likely not occur today (09/07). It may be tomorrow (09/08). At this time the planned dates for services have not changed. Randy is on his way to Farmington to work out further details.

MissezTicklz, No problem, as soon as a figure out a good timetable I will email you the details. I did a quick check and it looks like about a 3 hour ride from lebanon. Up 44 until Rolla and then over to Farmington on Hwy 8.

For those in the metro SL area planning to make the SSGT Deason services in Farmington, I am posting for a pre-staging area that should be convenient to most of those riders. In order to stay out of a really congested intersection area, I plan to stage @ St. Anthony's Hospital parking lot, just south of I-270 on Tesson Ferry Rd. (Hwy # 21) & 9:30 AM Sat. morning. I've talked to several guys about this & there are about 6-8 of us meeting there. Anyone else in the area that wants to join up please do so. My plan is for KSU about 9:45 AM, with a route of I-270 to I-55, south on I-55 to US #67 at Festus, south on #67 to Farmington.
Time may change if there is a change in the current tentative funeral services schedule.
Semper Fi & ride safe troops.

I just notified PGR central and the State Captain that SSGT Michael Deasons funeral has been postponed due to difficulties scheduling transport from Dover. They have not set a new date for the funeral until they know for sure when Michael is being flown home.
The new tentative date for arrival into St. Louis is Saturday, although they are still trying to pull strings to get him home sooner.
I have noticed a wonderful outpouring of interest from near and far. I will stay with this until the mission is completed. The family and community has opened their arms to us and want the Patriot Guard to be an integral factor in welcoming this true hero back his home.
Thank you all - stay tuned. |

With heavy heart, yet great pride, my right hand rises slowly to the position of "Hand Salute" in honor - and I do mean honor - of S/Sgt. Mike Deason. In 1962-3 It might easliy have been myself in Viet Nam. I offer my thanks to Mike for filling the breach to preserve our liberties by offering the supreme sacrifice. To Mike's family I offer the thought that the Patrot Guard will never "slight" the memories of those who have made that sacrifice but will always recall each of them with a loving smile and heartfelt thanks.
Don't forget to Check Six, Mike, and we'll see you at the next muster.

The funeral is at 2:00 PM Sunday, September 10th.
We are going to pre-stage in the parking lot of Missouri Beauty Academy, 224 E Columbia St (Hwy W). It's right in the middle of town across from the police station. They have a nice large parking lot and on the far end is a Casey Store. Staging is from 11:00 to 1:00. We will brief and have kickstands up at 1:00 to proceed to the church. The First Assembly of God Church is on N. Washington (Hwy D) just outside the city limits. We have asked for an escort to the church.
The family has arranged for a motorcycle hearse to carry SSGT Deason. It has a glass enclosed trailer for the casket. Any of you with flag stands on your bikes will ride in front of and behind the hearse and the rest will follow. Interment is in Irondale, just west of Farmington.
For those of you who wish to escort SSGT Deason from Lambert Field on Friday (ETA 7:15) I will post more details in the morning. It's been a long day and I'm going to catch some Z's.

Great job Randy. Thanks for staying on top of this one. There are many Patriot Riders who want to honor this American hero. It takes dedicated ride captains to pull off these missions. I plan on being there Sunday.

I am planning on riding to Farmington for the service of Staff Sgt. Michael L. Deason, 28. I am planning of leaving Lawrence, KS. around 10:00 AM on Saturday, spending the night and riding straight back after the services on Sunday. If anyone is interested in meeting and riding, let me know.
I plan on being in attendance at both the visitation on Saturday and the service on Sunday.

OK, then, for SURE I'll be there.
Tazer01, I have another bike with two riders who also might be attending. New members and if we don't hit Raymore and Harrisonville on Saturday, it will be their first rides as PGR members. I don't have access to a computer after today at 330 central time so you'll have to call my cell number and tell me where and what time you'd like to meet up if you're still planning on attending the Funeral on Sunday.
I'll email you my cell number.
Somebody, if you have one, please bring an extra flag. I don't have one mounted on the bike or even a pole yet. I DO have my American Flag jacket so if nobody has an extra flag and it's not too hot, I can just wear that.... it's a winter jacket, though... I'll pray for sunshine and comfortable!!
See you there! |

| We will discuss this in more detail at our pre-ride meeting at the staging area, but uninvited guests are not our concern. The local authorities will handle outside issues just fine. Our state law and the location of the church give the authorities a lot of favorable options. The Patriot Guard Riders are there to respect and honor the family as invited guests to the proceedings. If we do that well, our mission will be a success. |

| Anyone wanting to ride with me to Farmington out of the Cape/Jackson area on Sunday, I'm taking the back way in - 72 west to 67. To get there by 11:00 we'd need kickstands up by 9:00. A good meeting place (for me) would be the little quick stop gas station in Millersville, a few miles west of Jackson on 72. They open at 8:00 on Sunday. |
