SSGT Deason
A great man once said, "Poor is the Nation that has no Heroes, Shameful is the one that, having them, Forgets".  We will never forget the duty, service, honor, faithfulness and sacrifice you have given to our nation.  You are now in the great cloud of witnesses cheering us on.  We will not falter, We will not fail, We will not weaken.

To the Family of SSGT Deason

I pray that our heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom. (Lincoln to Mrs. Bixby 21 Nov 1864).
We will continually be praying for your family at our church.  May God strengthen you.

There is no telling what can be accomplished when no one cares who gets the credit.

What a tragic loss for this young family. I am sure Sgt. Deason’s young children will grow knowing what a brave hero their father was. May God comfort and guide this family during this sad time.

The rates for the hotel are $55.95 per night.  They have plenty of rooms for Friday night but only about 5 rooms for Saturday.  If you call to make reservations, be sure to tell them you are attending the funeral for Staff Sgt Deason.

We are still working with a tentative itinerary.  The main domino is the transport of SSGT Deason's body from Dover.  Shortly after the schedule his arrival in St. Louis is verified all else will fall in to place.

In working with the family I got this email from Tiffany Deason's brother, Brian:

From: Brian
Sent: Wednesday, September 06, 2006 8:43 AM
To: Randy Dunn
Subject: SSG Deason

Mr. Dunn,

Thank you so very much for your thoughts and prayers for our family.  Your website (PGR.org) has been a great source of comfort and pride for Tiffany, Jayden, Kayler, and the rest of our family.  I happened across your site while doing a search for Michael on the internet.  By chance you contacted Taylor Funeral Home about the same time.

Tiffany has asked me to contact you and ask if you (PGR) would do us the honor of attending the funeral of her husband, friend, and hero.  Tentatively the viewing is scheduled for Friday September 8 from 16:00 to 21:00, and the Funeral for Saturday September 9 @ 13:00.  This schedule is posted at www.taylorfuneral.com.  And any changes to this tentative schedule will be posted there as well.

I am sure that there are issues and services that we might need to discuss.  If so, you may contact me...  I will also contact the Taylors and let them know that you may be in contact with them.  I know they will want to coordinate with you directly with regards to the services your group offers and how they will incorporate with the Taylors plans.

And again, thank you for your support and assistance in this difficult time.

Brian

Monty has kindly placed an escort notice in the special missions forum.  It is still believed that SSGT Deason's body will arrive in St. Louis tomorrow, but no one has been able to confirm that.  We are standing by with the funeral director awaiting word.  We've had inquiries from several Farmington area riders that would love to go bring our hero home.  There is even a tentative plan for the procession to steer past North County High School where SSGT Deason graduated.  We'll post as soon as we get word.

Thank you, everyone.

To the family of SSGT Deason:  There is nothing that I can say that will make your pain easier;  all I can say is that I'm so sorry for your loss.  The sacrifice your family has made IS appreciated.  My heart aches for your heart.  You are in my prayers.

I'll leave out from Lebanon on Saturday morning.

Barndog... tell me from where you're leaving and when and I'll try to catch you on the way up.

Most heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of this brave warrior. I have prior commitments, or I'd make this one. Like too many others, it's too close to home. If I can figure out a way to be at three places at one time, I'll be there, but it's not likely.  May God bless and comfort this family, and watch over and protect all those who can be there to honor this young man.

As of 6:00 PM tonight, the funeral director has still not heard from DOD to confirm the transport arrangements for SSGT Deason.  He has gone so far as to contact his US Senator for assistance.  I called the Public Affairs Office at Ft. Campbell and they suspect that Dover is running behind.  For those of you wishing to join the escort of SSGT Deason from St. Louis, I can only ask for your continued patience.  I will be in Farmington tomorrow and hopefully everything will come together.  We have had a tremendous outpouring of interest and concern.  Thank you all.  We will inform you as soon as we get word.

God Bless.

May the God of love and mercy wrap the family of Staff Sgt Deason in His loving arms. There are no words to adequately convey our thanks for this supreme sacrifice. Rest assured we will never forget or take for granted the freedoms brave men allow us to enjoy....God be with you in a very special way and may the children take great pride in knowing, as they grow up, that their father is an American Hero.
