03 Sep 2006 11:03 AM Alert

I have talked to the funeral director and the family.  We have just gotten this email as follows.  I will have staging, maps and agenda posted shortly.  Thanks everyone.

After a flurry of phone calls between Washington & Dover, we now have CONFIRMED flight arrangements for SSG Michael Deason.  The details are as follows:

* 09.08.06, Arrival @ Lambert/StL via AA #690 # 7:15 pm
* Departure for Farmington immediately upon release from Lambert

* VISITATION: Saturday, 5-9 pm @ Taylor Funeral Service
* FUNERAL: Sunday, 2 pm, 09.10.06, at Farmington First Assembly of God Church
* INTERMENT:  Immediately following at Big River Cemetery, Irondale

The time leaving the church for the cemetery could be hard to "nail-down"  My best guesstimate at this time would be our departure from the church no earlier than Sunday, 3:30 pm

Due to paperwork issues in Dover, the escort from St. Louis' Lambert airport will not occur on Thursday, 09/07 as originally planned.  It may be on 09/08 instead.  At this time the schedules for other services has not changed.  Stand by for further details.

With Respect,

Monty Schrunk

St. Louis area Ride Captain

I just got off the phone with Dave Taylor at Taylor Funeral Services, Farmington, MO.  He has shared our information with the family and has gotten permission from them to invite the Patriot Guard to participate.  He advised that a family member will contact me personally to discuss details.  The Fort Campbell Casualty Assistance officer was in Farmington today meeting with the funeral director and the family.  SSGT Deason's body has arrived in Dover and they are targeting a Thursday arrival in St. Louis.  Tentatively the viewing of the body will be Friday and the funeral on Saturday.  I will go to Farmington tomorrow or Thursday to check out the route and possible staging areas.  We'll be working with Sgt. Tate of the St. Francois county sheriffs dept.

We have a confirmed mission.

On behalf of all Patriot Guard Riders in South Carolina, I extend our sympathies to the Deason family.

That really is inadequate to say at a time like this.  I know that.  I freely admit I don't know what else to say.  There is so much this young man will miss because he freely went into harm's way to protect me.  He has my gratitude and ultimate respect.

I wish I could say something to make the hurt go away.  I cannot.  I can only say that we acknowledge this most precious gift.

May God bless you and keep you.  May he hold you in the hollow of his hand.

Just joining today, I am still reading some of the older info. After I heard about it on the news, I done a search with his name and found a picture of him in the "stars and stripes" he is the third picture down. http://www.estripes.com/article.asp?section=104&article=33773&archive=true It looks like we were both taking classes at Mineral Area College at the same time but I didn't know him.
