unfortunately i had to take off early from this mission...but i would like to thank those who came. this was a soldier from my hometown and from my old guard unit. i saw many faces attending that i knew personally so this turned out to be a more personal mission than i thought it might be.
also...this is the 2nd time that i witnessed and the 3rd for many...the circling of an eagle over the immediate area where the service was taking place. |

I attanded this mission and I have to say, this was carried out in the highest of Marine Corps standards. Semper Fi to all who attended. My heart goes out to the family and friends that had to go through this but rest assure that he is in God's hands now and will be protected from now on.
I met a group of great hero's yesterday and hopefully I can call them friends for life. They have shown what this country is made of and how we stand behind our military. I hope to see you all again but under better circumstances. When we meet on the road of life I hope that you will allow me to call you friend.

| A short ride report. 23 bikes and 4 (I think) support vehicles. I counted a total of 32 people. I arrived at the staging area just be fore the briefing. Mounted up and rode in formation to the church, parking out of the way so family and friends could have best parking. We set up a double flagline at the entrance of the church for the visitation. Many smiles and tears passed by us. Just after setting up it was noted that once again, the was an eagle circling the sky above us. It starting to seem that they show up to show the fallen hero the way home. Once the service started we stood down for a little and executed part two of the plan. 6 members stayed at the church to escort Jason to the cemetary and the rest of us went ahead to the cemetary to set up there. There was a man videotaping the ceremony for Jason's buddies over seas and so we rode in formation through the cemetary for him to a parking spot on a "cross" road that was going to be blocked off later by the Army honor guard. We then sent 2 members to the gate with an all service support flag and an American flag to stand guard and the Gunny set up by the Army honor guard. The rest of us formed a tunnel of honor on the cemetary road just prior to the service site. After Jason and the family passed us and parked, the 6 escorts joined us and we moved to form a semi-circle around the services. After the service we stood down but did not leave right away so as to allow the family some time without the sound of motorcycles breaking in on them. Once again, we recieved many comments on how good we looked and how people were glad that we were there to honor Jason. It was a job well done. Once again, there was help from, I guess everybody, on how to do the mission and that is what made it look so good. I can't remember names but the people that do this know what works and what looks good. Again, just an OUTSTANDING job! I think Jason was shown honor and shown it well. |

Another "job well done" ladies and gentlemen. We were somewhat small in numbers yesterday, but that was well overshadowed by the amount of dignity and respect I witnessed. The tears, smiles and quiet "thank yous" are always a little emotional for me, but I saw you all handle them with a great deal of respect. Funny how a simple nod of the head can convey such a strong message!
I had the honor of being one of the six bikes to escort the procession to the cemetary, and as always, the tunnel of flags looked awesome. PFC Greeno's family and friends were so kind and appreciative. It will never cease to amaze me where the families find the strengh to do what they do. So graciously thanking me (us) as I fumble for something, anything to say that might even begin to express how grateful I am for their loved ones sacrifice.
Thank you to the two local ladies who went out of their way to bring us bottled water. Even though we have all learned to come well prepared, it is just such a gracious act of kindness onn their part, to think of us. God Bless You, ladies.
And the EAGLE,,,,,,again!!!!!!! What can I say, this has become more than just coincidence. There are truly powers at work in this world that we will never comprehend!
Thanks once again everyone. It's always an honor to stand with you!

My name is Mary Jo Smits, I am Jason Greeno's Aunt. I just wanted to say to the Patriot Guard Riders a huge THANK YOU. When we first pulled into the church parking lot I was truly amazed at how professional this was done. Watching you men and women hold the American flag at the funeral, during the procession and at the cemetary was the most unbelieveable thing I have EVER seen. I kept thinking that day how much Jason would have loved to actually see all of this and what great lengths people went through to honor him. Jason is truly an American hero in my eyes . And I am know Jason loved the whole "mission" as well. I am also thankful to ALL the other men and women serving our country. |
