DoD Identifies Army Casualties

The Department of Defense announced today the death of four soldiers who were
supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom. They died in Taji, Iraq, on Aug 27, when an
improvised explosive device detonated near their M2A3 Bradley Vehicle during
combat operations. All soldiers were assigned to the 1st Battalion, 66th Armor
Regiment, 1st Brigade, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Hood, Texas.
Killed were:
Spc. Tristan C. Smith, 23, of Bryn Athyn, Pa.

***AT THE REQUEST OF THE FAMILY THIS WILL BE A PRIVATE SERVICE.***

I received the following email today.

"Thanks for keeping an eye out. His body just arrived in Dover last night, and we held the memorial service yesterday with no show from protestors. Part of his family's religion is to hold the service 3 days following death so all is done except for the private service and that won't be made public except to our fire department.

This hero will not be forgotten.
