For the family of Army PFC. Shaun Novak:

I can only imagine what you and your family have gone through since being notified of the death of Shaun. I want you to know that you are not alone.  Hearts of families all over the United States are grieving with you and have your family in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

LIFE...so fragile.    LOSS... so sudden.    HEART...so broken.

In time, there will come a day when the tears of sorrow

will softly flow into sighs of remembrance. Your heart will begin to heal itself.
Grieving will be interrupted by episodes of joy; & you will hear the whisper of hope.
There will come a day when you will welcome the pangs of remembrance

as a sun shower of the soul; a turning of the tide; the promise of peace.
There will come a day when you will risk loving,

go on believing, and treasure the remembering.

Shaun was a very good and brave man. You have much to be proud of. He has not left you, but has been re-deployed to Heaven. I wish that I could ease your pain and sadness, but it will be a long, slow and painful climb.  Pain this deep will never go entirely away, but I pray that as each day that passes the hurt becomes a little less. And the memories of a lifetime will sustain you. These memories are your keepsake that can never be taken away.  God has Shaun in his keeping, but you have him forever in your thoughts and hearts. We pray that our Savior – in whose presence Shaun now rests – will comfort you and ease the pain of this loss and that your memories of Him will shine through the sadness.

This is not right - 2 missions in the same state on the same day. I will be in Two Rivers honoring one while I'm thinking about the other. Both will be in my thoughts and heart.

It was a pleasure serving with everyone. My wife & I had the honor of being a flag bearer for the procession through town. It was a very moving experience for both. This was my second mission; my wife's first. It is so hard to express our feelings for the family of Shaun. Words are just not enough. May God bless and cherish you all.

My hope is that we never have to do this again.

My sympathy goes out to the family. I know from recently losing my husband and love of my life for the past 8 years SFC Scott Smith how hard this is for a family to go through. Its been just under two months since losing Scott and everyday the phone rings and I see the number from Iraq I still believe its going to be him calling to tell me they made a mistake. I know no words can ever comfort the family or take any pain away. Everyone tells me that time will lessen the pain but I don't know if I can agree with that. Thus far each day I live with this it seems to get harder and harder. Nothing I can say will make them feel any better but just know you aren't alone in your pain and that no one who is a true American will ever forget your son. I know I will never. If ever you read this and need some support, I could use some myself please feel free to contact me. Gari-lynn@hotmail.com

May you find some peace in knowing your son is away from harms way now.
My sincerest condolences.
Lynn
