For the family of Sgt. David J. Almazan:

I can only imagine what you and your family have gone through since being notified of the death of David. I want you to know that you are not alone.  Hearts of families all over the United States are grieving with you and have your family in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

LIFE...so fragile.    LOSS... so sudden.    HEART...so broken.

In time, there will come a day when the tears of sorrow

will softly flow into sighs of remembrance. Your heart will begin to heal itself.
Grieving will be interrupted by episodes of joy; & you will hear the whisper of hope.
There will come a day when you will welcome the pangs of remembrance

as a sun shower of the soul; a turning of the tide; the promise of peace.
There will come a day when you will risk loving,

go on believing, and treasure the remembering.

David was a very good and brave man. You have much to be proud of. He has not left you, but has been re-deployed to Heaven. I wish that I could ease your pain and sadness, but it will be a long, slow and painful climb.  Pain this deep will never go entirely away, but I pray that as each day that passes the hurt becomes a little less. And the memories of a lifetime will sustain you. These memories are your keepsake that can never be taken away.  God has David in his keeping, but you have him forever in your thoughts and hearts. We pray that our Savior – in whose presence David now rests – will comfort you and ease the pain of this loss and that your memories of him will shine through the sadness.

I just got off the phone with the CAO assigned tro our fallen hero. There is very little information at this point, but it does not look like there will be a service Saturday.

I've worked with this CAO in the past, & he assured me that information will be passed along as soon as he gets it. Please stay tuned.

Thanks,
Joe

Thanks,

I served with David For about 3 years in Hawaii.  I had never met a person so dedicated to his family.  We became very close while deployed to Afghanistan. I remember laughing about how close the rockets or the mortar rounds were hitting. I may not share the same blood as David but he is my "BROTHER IN COMBAT" You will be missed.

P.S  I have been looking for information about his funeral.  If anyone can please find me anything about his burial please email me I_AM_AKUA@yahoo.com or call me at (808)647-0806
