Shane has stepped forward as the Road Captain for the mission as it develops, he grew up there and is familiar with the area. I have left message at the 2nd Marine Division PAO, and have some friends in the area, checking on POC from the paper and in the community. No word on when the young man is coming home. Eagle

UPDATE !!! UPDATE!!!!

I just got off the phone with the Marine Casualty Assistant Officer, 1SG Stone. As of this writing ,the young warrior will have his funeral and memorial service at Camp Lejuene. This is the father's wishes that he rest with his fellow Marines. I have informed and asked the 1sg that our representative from that area will contact him. They are very aware of the Group, and the 2nd Div PAO and i have had many discussions.
'

The young man has not been brought home yet, and as of this writing there is no date. It should be fairly quick though. Hope this helps. Eagle

For the family of LCpl. Donald E. Champlin:

I can only imagine what you and your family have gone through since being notified of the death of Donald. I want you to know that you are not alone.  Hearts of families all over the United States are grieving with you and have your family in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

LIFE...so fragile.    LOSS... so sudden.    HEART...so broken.

In time, there will come a day when the tears of sorrow

will softly flow into sighs of remembrance. Your heart will begin to heal itself.
Grieving will be interrupted by episodes of joy; & you will hear the whisper of hope.
There will come a day when you will welcome the pangs of remembrance

as a sun shower of the soul; a turning of the tide; the promise of peace.
There will come a day when you will risk loving,

go on believing, and treasure the remembering.

Donald was a very good and brave man. You have much to be proud of. He has not left you, but has been re-deployed to Heaven. I wish that I could ease your pain and sadness, but it will be a long, slow and painful climb.  Pain this deep will never go entirely away, but I pray that as each day that passes the hurt becomes a little less. And the memories of a lifetime will sustain you. These memories are your keepsake that can never be taken away.  God has Donald in his keeping, but you have him forever in your thoughts and hearts. We pray that our Savior – in whose presence Donald now rests – will comfort you and ease the pain of this loss and that your memories of him will shine through the sadness.

Every time a Soildier gives his all for our country we are a little less, for they are the blood by which the toll for freedom is is extracted. We as a country are a little stronger, for we stand a little taller in our boots resting asured in the fact that the price is not one that can ever be Paid In Full. For we are NOT Lemmings that run to a cliff and jump, but Men of Honor that stand in the path of tyrany and fight the good fight for freedom and The AMERICAN WAY . We grieve at the loss of this fine soildier but we stand to serve the family that bore him to become one of AMERICA'S FINEST. May GOD be with you in this time of loss. Stand Down Hero, your watch is over. YOU ARE RELEIVED. GOD SPEED.

My condolences to the family of Lance Cpl Champlin. It always saddens me to lose another son of Louisiana. But as a former Marine I can assure you that what we view as the ultimate price, to him it is just doing his job. To LCpl Champlin I say a job well done son. Welcome home.
