Sgt. James E. Williams, Marine, Vietnam Vet, 01 Sep't. '06, Kerman, CA.

Sgt. James E. Williams finally succumbed to the physical devastation he suffered from his time in Vietnam.  He was 100% disabeled from "toxic herbicide exposure" and had cancer at the time of his death.   He leaves a wife and family, who will miss him greatly, but know that he will suffer no more pain.  He also leaves a Brotherhood of American Legion Riders who have asked for Patriot Guard Rider support to escort him to his final resting place.  Kerman is a small town with limited resources, yet they have pulled together a Color Guard and a Bugeler.  Some of the ALR have ridden Missions with us before and came to Charlie's Homecoming to lend support and make this special request.  The family is actively seeking our participation as well.

Make time if you can this Friday for one more Marine who didn't get a Homecoming like Charlie did.  It will be very appreciated.

Meet-up Friday 09/01/2006 no later than 0845/ KSU @0900:
The Fastrip Market
432 S. Madera Ave
Kerman, CA 93630

On the Southern end of Fresno take the WEST Hwy 180 exit off of Hwy 99 from either the North or the South.  Hwy 180 is also called W. Whitesbridge Rd. in town.  When you get to Kerman, turn LEFT on Madera Ave, you will see the Fastrip Market on the LEFT hand side of the road.

The ride will proceed from there to escort Sgt. Williams to the Fresno Memorial Gardens at Hwy 180 and Cornelia Ave.  There will be a short Memorial Service for him there.

Ride Captain: Helldog

The irony within the passing of one brother on the heels of the homecoming of another brings a tear to my eyes and a lump in my throat. My family mourns the loss.

To the family and friends of Sgt. James Williams, thank you for giving us the opportunity to share in honoring this fallen warrior/soldier.  I wish I could have been there with my flags flying and my hand pressed over my heart to salute his service when he returned home from Nam.  Now, I will pay respects for that I did not do before.

Garlicindian, 4id_vet, and Cerberus27; I look forward to meeting you and riding this Mission of Honor together.

There was a time when our Heros were just dumped on the tarmac to fend for them selves. No bands no parades just cat calls and spittal.

Finaly, now we have a chance to right some of these indignaties. It will be my honor to be there, riding tall, flags flying, and hopefully give this hero the respect he so dearly deserves.

Semplerfi my brother.

To the family and friends of SGT. James E. Williams I offer my sincere condolences.

Previous reports in these forums about the disrespect experienced by returning Vietnam VETS reminds me of similar events described by my brothers during and after their time in the service. I am glad to say that I always demonstrated respect for our service men and women. However, I am sorry to say, I wish I had been wise enough to have done more. It is late, but never too late . . . . . Thank you, SGT. James E. Williams, for your service to our country. May God bless and comfort your family.

I am sad to not be able to attend this mission. Work . . . that awful word . . . requires my attention. However, I will be there with the PGR in spirit.

Respectfully,
Tom Hoynes

The spirit of the PGR is amazing; your words are moving, and your actions speak louder than your words.  Some of you ride from so far to raise up your flags and deliver your salute as James passes on his final earthbound journey.  It will be a privilage to ride with you all this Friday to honor our fallen Warrior.

Commander Mitch Didway of American Legion Post 355 in Kerman, and the American Legion Riders has invited us to follow their group back to Kerman after the graveside service.  It's about a 6 mile ride, back the way we came in on West Hwy 180.  The Lion's Club is having Picnic/BBQ and keg beer in the Park and we are welcome to join them.  Some of the American Legion Riders are also PGR members and it would be a good time to"R & R" before heading safely home.

Thank you Sgt James E. Williams. You are loved and will be remembered with honor. Thanks to all who can attend this service for a soldier that war eventually claimed.
Regretfully my work commitments keep me in Hanford. I know the PGR, with HellDog's leadership, will do it right for Sgt. Williams.
