Richard Todd Rhodes, 40, of Wilmington, NC, died Thursday, August 17, 2006, in Iraq.

He was born in Lexington, KY, September 5, 1965, son of Richard Rhodes and Dorothea Dhom Rhodes of Pekin, IL.

Todd served his country honorably for eight years as a member of the United States Marine Corps. He served in Desert Shield/Desert Storm while deployed to Southwest Asia. He had been employed as a security specialist with United States Protection Investigation (USPI) while in Afghanistan, and most recently with Cochise Company working in Iraq. Todd and his wife owned and operated Best Video and Audio in Jacksonville, NC, for twelve years. He was a very dedicated worker and family man. He was a very loving husband to Terry, and an engaging father, always interested in the welfare of his sons, teaching them "life's lessons" as well as individual skills in construction with Ryan and diving with Shaun. He was a man who simply loved life. His hobbies included dancing, diving, tennis, and sailing.

He was a man of faith.

Todd 's memory will be forever cherished by his family and the many friends and co-workers whose lives he touched along his way. Surviving in addition to his parents is his wife, Terry Kittner Rhodes, and two sons, Shaun Rhodes and Ryan Rhodes, all of Wilmington; his grandmother, Hilda Dhom of Newton, IL; a sister, Kimberly Klokkenga and husband Mark of Peoria, IL; nephew, Austin Klokkenga; niece, Megan Klokkenga; and nephew, Kyle Rakiecki; and his two Australian Shepherds, _Mocha and Cocoa. A nephew, Kellen Rakiecki preceded him in death.

Military honors will be accorded by a Marine Honor Guard from Camp Lejeune, NC.
