Seeing how I am still living off your tax dollars (USN retirement retainer) and not currently chained to a desk or other employment encumbrance, I should be able to atend. Should I find myself suddenly employed, it would revolve around that.

However, in the very likely event that I will be attending, I will do as Merlin has done here before. If he isn't going, I will round up all riders running through Jackson at our normal spot (Casey Jones Restaurant and Museum at exit 80 on I 40). It's about 3 hours to the "boro.

OK logistics aside.

To the family of James: Your son is a Marine, whether here on earth or in eternity, he is a Marine. the core values instilled in him in Parris Island were words to many, but to him they were orders to follow. His sacrifice will not be forgotten, you will not be forgotten. We will round up as many as possible, and I have already invited a mother of a wounded marine to put the word out there in Nashville where she lives. Hopefully she will gather up many of her son's unit as well as her son. I have family in Nashville and my nephew has already said he will see what he can do.

Your loss is ours, your pain is ours. I wish we could do more, but you'll have to accept our small gesture as the only payment we can repay with. Our bikes will be clean, our vehicles too wil shine. Our hearts will be heavy, but our backs will be straight, our salutes sent with pride in our own service and respectful to your son. Our flags will be there, standing tall in one final tribute to him.

Rest in God's arms, your journey has been tiring. Your emotions on edge, and your tears non stop. There are no words we can say to make that easier, but we will collectively stand in person or in spirit, 50,000 hearts breaking right along side you. 100,000 eyes crying and soaking our faces, we offer only our humble thank yous from a wall of flags and leather.

Ok it's 162.9 miles give or take an inch. At the time we need to be arriving at Starbuck's, we're going to hit rush hour traffic in Nashville. I'm saying we'll need three hours plus a cushion of 30 minutes. So anyone riding through Jackson, I will be at Casey Jones Museum at 4 am. I'm leaving at 445am. That should get us to the staging hour at appx 8am. Anyone wanting to run with me is invited to tag along.  I really would love to see a few folks,  but I know work is the hindering factor.

OOH Boy better have mama tuck me in early on Wednesday  night.

My home phone is (731) 424-9227 and my cell phone is (731) 313-1678. Please call me at home first, as my cell only works in Jackson and not here in Beech Bluff (T Mobile =poor coverage.)

Ride captain- Not sure how many I'll get but I will be there to represent west TN. Merlin you in? I know you're back to work, no worries sir, I got this one. Can I "borry" that PGR escort tag? I can come get it tomorrow night.

Hirlston family and friends- I will be there.

I'm buying four cases of 24 bottles of water. I will also bring my green magic fluid. YOU will drink and you will stay hydrated. I'll be making sure you all get it in ya. Bring extra water, bring cooling bandanas, there will be cool ice water melted down in the cooler, perfect for dipping.

Ride Captain- I got the medical watch on this one.

OK Dennis, that's 232 miles from Bartlett to the staging area in Murfreesboro. So that means we'll have to leave the Memphis area by 3:30 in order to meet up with you in Jackson for a 4:45 departure, but we'll be there.
I'm not sure how many from the Memphis area are coming but you can count on me being there baring any complications. I thank you in advance for all you're doing to make this mission a success for us to pay our respects to the family and honor this brave warrior.

Any riders in the Memphis area that wants to ride along with me, needs to meet me at the Cracker Barrel in Lakeland with kick stands up, no later than 3:30.

God Bless you all and ride safe.

Just an FYI to all those riding/driving in on I24 E & W, there is construction on the interstate in both directions, starting at mm 78 and it goes past mm81, not sure where it ends exactly.  That time of morning it may not be too much of an issue, however it is a work day and rush hour starts around 0700, it gets heavier closer to 0730-0800................

Just a heads up!  I pray each of you coming arrives safely whether in a cage or riding..........

Just talked w/ Dreamcatcher about the construction.  It's only three (3) miles and in the median, only problem she saw would be with trucks entering and leaving the roadway.  With this in mind, and considering our scheduled arrival would be between 0745 and 0800, we can leave the departure from Jackson at 0500.

Hey Doc, the funeral home is almost straight across the street from the staging area as it shows on Map Quest, here's the address just in case. Annette and I will be there early, so you will see us there no matter when you get to either place... drive and or ride safe all, and be wary of the road construction just before the first Murfressboro exit... Hwy 231 is actually the 2nd Mufreesboro exit the "Murfreesboro/Shelbyville" exit if coming from Nashville toward Chattanooga, and you will want to take exit going towards Shelbyville.

God be with you all... ~Mark
