My heartfelt condolonces go out to the Family of SSG Nathaniel Johnson. Once a soldier always a soldier. I know Nathaniel personnally from when he was on Active Duty in Desert Storm and at Fort Lewis, Washington. SPC Johnson, at that time, was one of my soldiers. I remember him well and I will never forget him. He was truely a great person and a great soldier. It has been a long time since I have seen him, but I can still see him now the same as if it were yesterday.

Rest in peace, for your time here on earth is done. May God bless you and your family. I will always remember the SPC Johnson that I knew and helped train. Rest in peace SSG Johnson.

Some members have questioned the statement 2 tours in Desert Storm.....From the link above for the funeral home the following statement was taken...

Nathaniel James Johnson departed from his family to be with God August 14, 2006.

Nate (aka “Buster” and “Mr. Alabama”) was born to Nathaniel Johnson, Sr. and Florence Johnson in Monroeville, Alabama and raised there with his mother and his siblings Lucy, Kat, Fay, and Bean. In 1984, he left there to join the United States Army and was trained as a Power Generation Equipment Repairer. Nate served as a full time soldier for 8 years, then rejoined as a Washington State National Guardsman. Showing pride and respect for his country, Nate proved himself to be an exemplary leader and soldier serving time in 2 tours of Operation Desert Storm.

Many as well as I, understand that those who have not worked closely with the Military, and terms which are used, sometimes make errors in terminology.  I remember my days back in Vietnam, was it a War ???   Or Police Action ???

Laying that aside, the one thing that we DO know about Nathaniel Johnson, is that he is a Veteran, and we as Patriot Guard Riders are here to support the family and community of our fallen.  Lets all keep that Mission in our minds, and move froward from this point.

Respects to all.

Ed
