Mission Information:

Wednesday, 30AUG06

I will be leaving from the(as usual) santiam rest area, 10 miles north of Albany, at 0900.

Staging plans at Latus:

Arrive 1000, mission breif @ 1030.

It is expected, at this point, to have services at WNC at 1300 (1:00).
The hearse may arrive earlier, so we need to be prepared & ready to deploy.
I would like to roll out to WNC from Latus no later than 1200, but earlier if need be, hence the early rally time.

As always, if you have questions for me, please:

IF there is anyone that is going to drive a cage over to this mission from the Portland area, and you have room for one or two passengers, then would you please get in touch with me ASAP! IF we are not able to find a piper in the immediate area for this service, we will send Pipey over IF we can secure transportation...but at this time, the fuel expense is out of question.....

(I posted this in another thread and now feel I should have posted it here)

I talked to Roper (Lou) today. He seems like a good guy committed to the PGR mission. He has gone out of his way to ensure that honor is shown to this soldier and our respects paid to his family. Usually a mission takes a lot out of me and I try to avoid 2 missions in one week. I can't stay away from this mission. This soldier and his family are special in their own right. I have emailed my boss and asked him for a day off to help Roper and pay tribute to this fine young hero and his family. I pray that my request will be honored so that I, in turn, can show honor.

LCPL Newman, you have paid the ultimate sacrifice to protect me and my loved ones, my freedom, my beliefs. There are no words to show my appreciation for the sacrifice that you have made. May God bless you and hold you in his arms.

To the family of LCPL Newman, you have given so much. You have given a son, a hero. My heart cries for you. May God bless you and comfort you. Thank you for giving so much.

Respect,

Rick

My boss has once again shown his support for 'what we do' by giving me the day off. I don't see any staging areas for Eugene/Springfield going to Redmond tomorrow so I hope no one minds that I set it up now. We can meet at Deb's Restraunt at 42nd St and Main St.  They open at 5am and we can have breakfast there before we leave. From I5 take 126 East to 42nd St Marcola. Turn right at the offramp light. Go to Main St (ARCO PM on the left/Taco Bell on the right). Turn left and then an immediate right at the first driveway. Deb's is on your left. I feel if we do KSU at 0600, we can make a fuel stop for those who need it or take a break or two on the way. Let me know if I should look for you at this staging area.

Ride safe,

Rick

Latus Motors is the Harley Davidson Dealer in Gladstone. Take the Gladstone exit off the 205 for the DMV (I think it is exit #11). You can see their HUGE AMERICAN FLAG from the freeway!

Hope this helps, Vicki.
