Greetings All,

Yesterday, Sunday, October 22, 2006, Lcpl Foley’s dad, American BadA$$ and his Mrs., “Dash – 1” and I did a Recon of the mission route. Everything went very well, including the transit on I-64. The following information is provided to all of you that will attend, and will be covered during the Ride Brief.

3x5’ U.S. Flags. – On Sunday, Ed “AmerBadAs” and Carrie “Dash-1” Lonecke rigged their 3x5’ U.S. Flag on Ed’s 2005 H-D Fatboy. The mounting device was hard mounted to Ed’s rider back rest, and was a very solid mount. We left Norfolk Airport and proceeded to the mission destination, running 50 to 60 mph. Ed encountered no issues with his biked rigged for escort. That being said, I’m inclined to run this mission, from start to finish with U.S. Flags rigged for escort.
All riders and cages rigging flags please ensure your flag mount is installed with hardware. I’m inclined to think bungee cords and zip ties won’t be enough to sustain interstate speeds. I’d rather you lean towards caution and safety, and pull your flag before leaving the airport if you’re not able to determine what top safe speed you may sustain.

LEO – Norfolk Airport Police Dept / Virginia State Troopers. Both agencies and they have been contacted, face to face and hard copies of the PGR Mission Operational Order personally delivered. We will shoot for the same setup as we had for Spc Chad Scott (10/01/2006) but be forewarned, conditions on the ground may dictate a change in parkng venue. I’m not saying it’s probable… just possible. Please be flexible to adjust, if the need should arise. The transits from the Airport to Newport News, will be primarily I-64 Interstate. It is imperative that we maintain a consistent and tight group while on I-64. There will only be a few lane transitions, nothing really complicated… will just require meticulous 1attention to detail when rider, and please ensure you’re Bike is in good mechanical condition and shape

Looking forward to seeing you all at this mission for returning Marine, LCpl Todd Foley.

Shane,
Not a requirement.  I was speaking to those that do have flags.  Being your first mission, this is a great time to check out your fellow PG Riders, and pick their brains and techniques for how they did this or that....  you can learn not only how to work smart vice hard,  I'm think also less scratches too!

Looking forward to you first mission.  Dress warm...  it'll be a chilly one going across HRBT!

Greetings All,

We're about minus 4 hrs from H hour (H=Homecoming), and if this morning was any indication on the weather it'll be a cold one.   Weather from 18:30 until 22:00 shows Clear and 52 degrees down to 46 degrees (which is what it was when I rode into work this morning. I'll be doing final contacts with the ORF Airport PD and will see you at the KMart parking lot or at the airport Arrival terminal. Again, don't want no hypothermia, broke bikes, outta gasers (especially in the tunnel)... but I will settle for just a runny nose . Please prepare and dress accordingly.

See you this evening!

I know you guys are gone already, but I just want to leave a note- I got a flat rear tire this afternoon- on the bike- as I was leaving my parking spot at 50th and Washington in NN. I was just making that right on to Huntington when I felt that gushy, wierd sensation. I pulled into a lot on 46th.

Nice little sheet-metal type screw embedded in it.

Just got home a few minutes ago.

On a positive note, the HOG roadside service worked well. The wrecker arrived withing an hour of my call. I had to pay for mileage overage, but that's ok.

With tube tires, there's not much one can do (that's why i keep my cell phone charged).
Next project is to replace those spoke wheels with cast so I can run tubeless and plug'em myself in a pinch.

WELCOME HOME LCpl FOLEY {HUGS} and so sorry I missed the ride! I am sure I will meet you all soon.

Excellent mission, the warmth of a homecoming out-weighs the cold air. We need to slow down the procession though, Todd was back in his mother's arms again so there was no rush to get him to their final destination, besides he had his beer in him for the ride. Welcome home Todd and i very happy for the entire Foley family, i know ebveryone slept peacefully last night. Welcome to all the first time mission riders you all did an excellent run. See you all again on the next mission or the Veterans Day parade in VB.

All,
Great mission! one close call by a cager which I think made my heart skip a beat! I didn't check my flag securing device, and that's how I lost it all. I'm just glad it didn't hurt anyone! Mission Report to follow.
Thanks again all, and it was an honor to ride with you all. Welcome Home LCpl Todd Foley... We salute you.... and all like you!

LCPL Foley and Family,  First and foremost...WELCOME HOME Hero!  It's always a honor and privelege to acknowledge another of our hero's coming home.  Got to say, what a fun ride!  I'm sure we all learned alot that night.  Let's ride safe and continue our great mission.
