To all the PGR who honored Scott yesterday, "Thank You" just doesn't seem enough. From all of us here in Hiawatha, your presence was heartfelt and comforting to all of us. I agree with others who have said , what a valuable lesson in "Patriotism" and "What it means to be an American" that this kind of experience was for the young people present yesterday. Today, I am still in awe. I was so proud to be a part of remembering and honoring Scott and showing our love for his family. His life and his sacrifice for our freedom will not be forgotten and we as friends and community are here for the family to help in any way during the difficult time ahead. I will do all I can to spread the word about your organization and encourage people to contribute in what ever way they can, as I will. God Bless you All. Wings in the Wind and Angels on your shoulders.

30 Aug 2006 12:29 PM Alert

Like a lot of us, I didn't sleep very well the night before this mission.
The anticipation of what the next day would bring, thinking about our fallen hero, having pictures in my mind of what the show of patriotism will look like and many other things entered my mind when I was trying to get to sleep. The night after this mission was not any better for getting much sleep either with replaying the events of the day.
The show of PGR members was awesome for a weekday where so many people have to work. I would expect 150 riders and support vehicles on a weekend, but not on a weekday. What a great show of support for this fallen hero.
The views of the large American flags lining the entrance of the church parking lot and also at the building's entrance was breathtaking to say the least.
Having Aj_Junky's daughter giving the plaques and flags to the family was overwhelming.
What a wonderful thing for Big Dog to have happen at that moment and to give that opportunity to her daughter. That will be something she will remember and cherish the rest of her life.
The overwhelming support shown by the town of Hiawatha was one of the largest and best show of patriotism and support  for a fallen hero that I have seen in my 10 missions that I have attended.

Like a lot of us, I also have shed many a tear at the missions that we attend and this mission was no exception. I think I had tears in my eyes six times, if not more.
I still get teared up when I read some of the ride reports from some of the PGR members after the mission is over.

Many thanks to "Big Dog" for organizing and coordinating this mission.
Big Dog is a true leader and is a great captain for us.
He definitely has the "right stuff" for what he does for the PGR.
Many thanks to the Wamart store for coffee and donuts (although I missed getting the donuts).
Many thanks to the LEO's for an outstanding job with security and traffic.
Many thanks to all of our PGR members and support people for making this mission a great one and a safe one.

I am and contnue to be a proud PGR member and always proud and honored to stand with my great PGR brothers.

Never take freedom for granted.
Never forget who died for your freedom.
God bless the great "United States of America"

First of all I would also like to thank all the riders who rode this mission. Being close friends to the family this was a special mission for us. We had learned of CPL. Cole's death when T-Bone called us asking how to get the PGR involved. Along with another friend to the family, two messages were put into Big Dog ( who responded very promply). And before you know it, the wheels were rolling.
The first part of this mission was to escort CPL. Cole back to Hiawatha. Thanks to Steamer, I was able to escort the hearse and family back to the tarmac where they picked up the soldier we all mourned. Then it was a two hour ride back to Hiawatha. Thanks to the Missouri Trooper that led us, the St. Joe Police that shut traffic down while we rolled through, the Kansas Trooper that picked us up after the state line, the Brown County Sheriffs that picked us up in Brown County, and the Hiawatha Police that shut down traffic while we rolled through Hiawatha. Along the route in Hiawatha there were people standing on side the rode waving flags and some holding lanterns saluting us as our motorcade rolled along. When we got a couple of blocks away from the funeral home, the street was lined with people shoulder to shoulder all holding lit candles and most singing for this towns hero. Kai says "we wear our sunglasses so you can't see the tears", well it was night time and there were no sunglasses, but the tears came anyway.
Tuesday, when we rolled in to Wal-Mart for the staging, I was amazed at the early turnout, and bikes kept rolling in. The scene of all the bikes rolling out of Wal-mart being led by T-Bone and Terry (Fluffy) was almost out of a storybook. How awesome was it that this soldiers uncles, and PGR members led all of us? I heard several towns people talk about how impressive and fitting it was for them two to be in front. Workers stopped and lined the streets, and that big lump came back into my throat. I knew it was going to be a long day.
After setting up at the church, Big Dog made that lump even bigger when he asked our daughter to present the flags, that everyone signed, to the family. I still can't thank him enough for that. I took her there to help pass water out and also I wanted her to learn about respect, and I know she wouldn't learn it in school. Thanks to everyone who made her feel like one of us. And she feels like one of us. She talked all night about her experience. She made a sign for everyone that said "No money, water is free" after someone gave them a dollar for the water. That is what I want her to learn. Thank you all once again. He also gave her a PATRIOT GUARD patch that she took to school and showed everyone. Damn where's those glasses.
The ride out to the cemetary again was one of the best displays of a community that I have seen. I never really thought much of Hiawatha until yesterday. WOW. Everyone and I mean everyone that I have talked to, even from 18 miles away, talked about how good of a showing the bikes were. Well I say how much of a good showing a community was.
Once again I am honored to stand by all my PGR family and respect those who fight for our freedom, past and present. Thanks again.

Dustin

I was unable to attend the funeral mission but I was fortunate enough to travel to Hiawatha with Mike and Les and escort the family to KCI and then made the return trip back to Hiawatha. It was a pleasure to ride with and meet T-Bone and honor Scotty and his family the only way I can. It was quite obvious to me when we pulled into Hiawatha Saturday night what a big heart this community has. I will never forget this time I have spent honoring Scotty, he is a true hero. T-Bone, it's a pleasure to call you my friend, and please accept my condolences. I know I will meet Scotty in heaven some day and it will be my pleasure to meet this fine young man. Godspeed Brother.

I maintain a fallen soldier tribute site, but I can't find a photo of this soldier anywhere.  Anyone have one?  I'd love to include it on the site.  Thanks.

I just want to say thank you to all the Patriot Guards, who showed us what "Patriotism " means. When I read about the PGR escorting Scott Cole's body from the airport to Hiawatha, I was glad that the town of Hiawatha came out to show their respect and concern for Scott and his family. All of you could not be thanked enough for all that you do for the families and the rest of us. Your presence is so comforting. May God Bless All of you and keep watch over all our soldiers and veterans wherever they may be.

IN THE WORDS OF CPL JEREMIAH SCOTT COLE'S
                                                UNCLE TOMMY

There will never be enough "Thank you's" or words that could ever be spoken that would truely express the gratitude to each and everyone of the PGR'S  who selflessly put aside everything in their own daily lives and made this mission possible.
When this mission began, none of us knew what to expect.
But "BIG DOG" was an absolute God Send. He went far out of his way to get the mission started, from the first call and e-mail from Corrin and Dave G. When we all rode to KCI to escort Scotty home to Hiawatha, with the Help and Guidance from Steamer, who by the way when I told him My brother Terry and I had no Flag's to fly for the trip. This man who I will now call My Brother drove to Topeka and pick up two new flags and Staffs for us to have."thanks again my brother". It was a ride unlike any other we have ever been on. Full of emotion from people we had never even met!
And then when we pulled into Hiawatha, the outpouring of a community that gave Scotty the honor and respect that he and his family so rightfully deserved was just overwhelming! Our harts filled with pride as our eyes filled with tears. Scott's wife Andrea Said to the Family Now i know what scott meant by "Going Home"!!!
And then on the day we layed scotty to rest the emotions began to ride even higher as all the bikes began to pour into the Walmart parking lot.
As the people began lining the street of Oregon and the Family walked down to see the PGR's ride thru town, we looked down the street and it was on of the most moving and beautiful sights that anyone could ever see in their entire lifetime.
You could see the Red,White and Blue flying High and Proud for as far as the eye could see. There wasn't a dry eye in the crowd as well as in the eyes of the riders.
After that the emotions hit an alltime high as the family rode to scotty's final resting place.  The 1,000's of people once again lining the streets and experiencing what Patriotism is truely about ! Looking through tearfilled eyes as we rode thru the gates of the Cemetary and all the Brothers and Sisters of the PGR's lined both sides of the entrance, it made me swell with Pride to be ab le to be a part of such an outstanding group of People!
It will be a day in everyone's lives that will never be forgotten, and it will have an everlasting impact, and I am so proud to say that I got the opportunity to be a part of it!
Our Many Thanks again to all that helped make so many lasting memories, it helped to bring a comfort to our family that was truely appreciated adn will never be forgotten!
We are all so proud of scotty and are sure that he was looking down in total awe at this Spectactular display of Love and Life that we all have for him!

                                                                                OUR LOVE TO ALL

First thing I would like to thank the PGR for being there that day. I grew up with Scotty, we were next door neighbors. Even way back then he dreamed of being in the military. It makes me so proud he was able to achieve his dream and serve our country doing so. God Bless his family. He will be truely missed.
