MISSION COMPLETE:

On 08/22/06 we staged at the Altamont Christian Church around 8:30am to prepare for our mission to honor Spec. Justin Mey, I was getting a little nervous when only a couple bikes rolled in but then things got much better as several strated rolling in, it was a beautiful day with Blue skies and a nice breeze in the air. we had 28 bikes and 4 cages in the escort which I think was outstanding for a Tuesday.

After having everyone sign in,  Myself, Joe Tracy, and (Indiana R/C) Russ Bauer who was a great help talked with everyone and then we had kick stands up around 9:30 to line up at the funeral home, we arrived and 2nd street was open for the PGR's bikes and cages to line up, we then set up a flag line on the east side of the funeral home ( Both sides of the sidewalk going up to the funeral home)  where the family and friends walked in, then we moved the line to the north side where they brought Justin out. One good thing is that most of the time we positioned everyone in shaded areas which helped out alot.

We then all fired up the bikes and cages and traveled to lead the percession, we went south for about 3 miles at a nice easy 30 mph pace, then turned west onto a nice freshly stoned road which I am very happy to say that no one had a problem with, we traveled this road for about 1 mile, then turned south for about 1/8 of a mile and turned into the church, we pulled in to the cemetery and parked in a nice big grass lot at the north end of the cemetery to leave the main parking area open for family and friends, we then had the flag line set up to honor justin and his family,
the sun was bright and the day was warm but we had a very nice breeze that kept everyone fairly comfortable, you could not have asked for a better day for this mission, Joe Tracy and myself when everything was over presented a mission flag flown on Joe's bike to Justin's family we then released the PGR from this mission.

I would really like to thank Arne (Recon) for making it happen with the flags he brought over, I also want to thank Russ (IN R/C) for helping us, it is always awesome to have people working hard together to make things happen, I also want to thank Joe (IL R/C) for helping me in making this mission go so smoothly, I also want to thank all of the Patriot Guard Riders who took your time out of your day, and drove to Altamont Illinois to show respect and honor to our local soldier. I also would like to thank S&W Supermarket for donating the water for todays mission, I also would like to thank the pastor of the Altamont Christian Church for allowing us to use his parking lot as a staging area and for also doing the prayer at the staging area.

I hope I did my job well and even though I don't want to see you all at another funeral, I would be very happy to ride anywhere with you all, todays mission complete.
