Dear Patriot Guard Riders,
This is to publicly thank all of you who made the trip to Merrill, Wisconsin, for the funeral of SGT Ryan Jopek on Monday, August 14. Ryan is a true hero and he will be dearly missed by everyone in the Army National Guard family.
I served in Iraq in 2004 with Ryan's father, SSG Brian Jopek, in the 139th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment. Out of the 20 soldiers in our unit there were 15 of us who were able to be there for Brian and his family, and we were all very grateful to see you there too. Words simply cannot express the sense of honor, respect and dignity your presence conveyed.
We all tried to personally thank as many of you as we could, but I know there were some we missed. Thank you all, and may God bless you and keep you safe in your travels.
