hi there,
Fort Sill is part of the Lawton community. it is located just north of Lawton. You will find it approximately 90 miles south of OKC on Interstate 44 south. I44 runs right beside Fort Sill and on the East side of Lawton. Hope this helps, Feel free to contact me if you need any more details. take care

This is an easy round trip from the DFW metroplex. I'd like to make this one, but it's too early to tell for sure. At least the temp won't be 107.

| I wish I had the bike to make it down to Ft. Sill for this welcome home ride. I havent been there since I left training in 83. I do really appreciate all of the troops currently serving here in the States and around the world. |

TulsaTK...you don't need a bike to ride to any mission...cars and trucks or whatever transportation you have is fine! I don't know why people are so confused that we seem to be a biker's only membership...we ride in all kinds of vehicles to make our missions. I do either a bike or a car/truck depending on my situation. |

We're all very proud of the Soldiers who are going, have gone and are coming back and the ceremonies are exciting. I've been to almost every deployment and welcome home ceremony at Fort Sill. My concern is that we're not observing good OPSEC. I know, I know, most of us aren't in the military and don't need to think about that, but when we're putting out troop movements two, three, five weeks ahead of time, doesn't that seem a little bit negligent on our part? This isn't a secure site and bad guys have computers too....and time to sit and wait if they don't know exact dates. The information we unwittingly put here may not get "our" Soldier hurt, but the bad guys know a planeload of Soldiers have to replace the ones who are leaving. And, here we are giving them advanced notice. Sorry to be a little negative. On a positive note; I was at the B Battery, 1st-77th FA homecoming Oct. 5 at Fort Sill and saw the results of Shooter handing out 30 American flags to families and friends to line one of the streets the buses carrying the returning Soldiers drove down. One an absolutely spectacular sight!! Kudos Shooter and keep it up, even when the rain and cold hit and the wind comes sweeping down the plains.

| Welcome back, neighbors! Both of my former units at Sill were next door to the 1/17th, in the 75th FA Bde area. Give my regards to the gang in the 3400 area! If the Caisson Club is still there, hoist one for me. |

No Caisson Club, no Observation Post lounge, NCO and Officer Club merged, but we do have the Impact Zone, which is around the corner from 75th Fires BDE (my parent unit). Even though the Caisson Club is no more...I will drink one (or three) for you at the Impact Zone.
