I think I am encountering a block by the CAO, for whatever reason. She has not returned any of my calls, but that won't keep me from trying.

I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom."

But I have been wrong before. She just called me and is en route to the Zamora's house to talk with them and get their answer. I will let you all know what I find out when I find it out.

Okay folks, here is the deal. The date of the funeral has not been set, but I just got off the phone with the CAO and Spc Zamora's sister, and they funeral will be at the Hillcrest Funeral Home on 5054 Doniphan Dr in El Paso, TX. The burial will be at the Ft. Bliss National Cemetery at 5200 Fred Wilson Blvd, Fort Bliss, TX. We will be working in tandem with the Texas folks, since he was from New Mexico and will be interred in Texas. I hope to find out the finalized date of the funeral here in the next day or so. Bear with me as I await these details.

I thank the Zamora family for the support they have displayed for thier son's patriotic stance. It is a hard time to deal with and we all grieve with you. Thanks to your son, an American hero, who gave all of this country, family and his personal beliefs. Can you ask anything more or anyone! I am grateful for his service and he will always have a place in my life here and thereafter. He's my hero along with all those who have died in the past, have served in the past and are currently serving today. Without these hero's where would this country be today. God bless the Zamora family and thank you for your service and sacrifice.

The funeral will be Friday, 18 Aug, but the time is yet to be determined. I will find out for sure on Monday what the time is, then I will post all the details in a final itinerary. I am working with Roger Mead (wtxcowboy) to put together the staging area and whatnot. Will post details as I get them.

I am very sorry that I cannot ride to honor Spc. Zamora on Friday, due to a mandatory work training class conflict.  My thoughts will be with the Zamora family, and I will keep them in my prayers.

His service and sacrifice will never be forgotten. I will be with the PGR at the services for Staff Sgt. Stephen Seale on Friday in West Virginia. I will also be thinking of Spc. Zamora and Sgt. Okay folks, here is the final itinerary to honor Spc. Jose Zamora.

We will stage from 1100 to 1130 (kickstands up at 1130) on Friday, August 18 in the parking lot of Hobby Lobby on 7930 N Mesa S in El Paso. Mesa can be accessed from Exit 11 on I-10. It's about one block and will be on the right side. It is only a few blocks from there to the Funeral Home. Once there, we will show our support by bringing as many flags as possible, whether they are on poles or not. From there, the funeral procession will take us through Sunland Park before going to Ft. Bliss Nat'l Cemetery for burial with full military honors. If you do not wish to participate in the burial services or the procession, you will be able to leave before we do in order to avoid disrupting the services. I want to thank wtxcowboy Roger Mead for helping me put all this together. Let's pray for a good turnout of folks to be there to honor this young hero's sacrifice.

For the family of Spc. Jose Zamora:

I can only imagine what you and your family have gone through since being notified of the death of Jose. I want you to know that you are not alone.  Hearts of families all over the United States are grieving with you and have your family in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

LIFE...so fragile.    LOSS... so sudden.    HEART...so broken.

In time, there will come a day when the tears of sorrow

will softly flow into sighs of remembrance. Your heart will begin to heal itself.
Grieving will be interrupted by episodes of joy; & you will hear the whisper of hope.
There will come a day when you will welcome the pangs of remembrance

as a sun shower of the soul; a turning of the tide; the promise of peace.
There will come a day when you will risk loving,

go on believing, and treasure the remembering.

Jose was a very good and brave man. You have much to be proud of. He has not left you, but has been re-deployed to Heaven. I wish that I could ease your pain and sadness, but it will be a long, slow and painful climb.  Pain this deep will never go entirely away, but I pray that as each day that passes the hurt becomes a little less. And the memories of a lifetime will sustain you. These memories are your keepsake that can never be taken away.  God has Jose in his keeping, but you have him forever in your thoughts and hearts. We pray that our Savior – in whose presence Jose now rests – will comfort you and ease the pain of this loss and that your memories of him will shine through the sadness.
