The words ain't been invented to express everything I saw and felt this weekend...my heart was filled...and so were my eyes...many times...
I was again in awe to meet so many people with such deep compassion...giving so much of their time and themselves unselfishly...the more I'm around you folks, the more my faith in the human species is restored...
Thanks for allowing me to share in this opportunity and in this cause...
God bless the de Moors family...God bless our military...God bless you all...

I want to start this off with saying WOW!!! This weekend will be one I remember and cherish forever. I do not even know where to begin… but I will give it my best shot!!! This is the extremely short version of what I would like to say!!! I figured you would all get to a point where you were just tired of reading… so….
To all the ride captains, I want to say THANK YOU!!! You did an awesome job and everything went perfectly… you are all amazing and I am so glad I got to meet you all in person… Thank you all for the sacrifices you made, the time and energy you spent, and your dedication to the PGR & Vendella for making this all happen…Without all of you none of this would have been able to happen! Chip, you are an amazing inspiration to me… with what you did to make this all happen shows what kind of man you are, everyone should be proud to know you!!! Snap… your commitment to accomplishing the impossible is incredible and it was an honor to ride with you… Drew, I barley know you but you have this determination and strength to your personality that is inspiring to everyone around you, you should be proud! Heather, we didn’t really get to talk but when we did you were incredibly sweet… you were really a trooper putting up with the rain storm and no rain gear!!! Deltoid, thank you for everything you did for me, you are truly amazing. Walkingslack, dude… I have the picture if you would like me to post it that thong… it was adorable… a memory I will hang on to forever!!! You are an awesome guy, your dedication to the PGR in phenomenal… Barbara, you and your family never cease to amaze me… You are an inspiration to me…Jaime, the picture was touching. I wish you could have seen the look on Vendella’s face, but don’t worry, I got a picture of it for you! Dumb-as-Dirt, what would I have done without you??? It would not have been possible to experience any of this if it were not for you. Your vast amount of generosity was astounding and I will never forget what you did for me… Daddy’s Girl… I was a blessing to finally meet you. You are a gift, and your loyalty to this country and to the PGR is exceptional. Thumper, you are an amazing woman; I will always treasure the hour long nap… It made a world of difference when the late afternoon rolled around. Than you so much for the southern hospitality and the wonderful breakfast (even though I was too tired to eat) it did look delicious…I will never forget my trip to “Jawga to see ya’ll” Billy, thank you so much for lugging my bags around and holding them hostage… Without you, I would have been in trouble! Suthnbelle, you were so sweet, and Kim thank you sooooo much for all the water you provided to everyone. I would have been completely dehydrated without you!!! Robertga and family, were you my saviors or what??? When it came down to the last few hours of the ride to the airport, that car ride really allowed me to re-coop a bit and get caffeinated. My body was beginning to have perma-tingle… To the Virginia crew, you were all so enjoyable… it was pleasant to be in your presence for such a long period of time... Trog and Lady Trog, it was such a delight to meet you both in person… you were such a help to me to arrange my trip coming out there and locating a hotel…LilDawg, you will unquestionably stick out in my memories of this trip and we will certainly keep in touch…Oh wait, I can’t forget Short Ride and Lick a Lil’ Bit Higher… you were definitely the jokesters of the weekend and made me laugh a few times… Love, yours truly, “Hollywood”…
To the de Moors family: Even though I didn’t get the opportunity to meet any of you personally, I was extremely honored to be able to play even the smallest role in something so immense for you and your family. I will savor this weekend in my memories forever… I know how much this weekend meant to all of you and I am so ecstatic that the PGR was able to make this happen for you!
And my three special thank you’s:
Canyon (my chauffer) I feel as if we became very close in such a short period of time. Thank you for your willingness to throw me on your bike for 400 miles with no questions asked while not complaining once. Thank you so much for putting up with me and for just being you… The creek was breathtaking. It really makes you appreciate the little things in life (like frogs). There is no one that I would have rather experienced all of this with!!!
RAINY, you alone were like the cherry on top of the weekend for me. I got all teary eyed when I saw your tribute picture!!! For me, it literally summed up all my emotions throughout the entire weekend with just one glance. The picture itself is truly amazing and your talent is extraordinary! I have always wanted a tattoo but when people ask me why I don’t have one I answer them this “Because there is nothing that I can think of that means enough to me to want on my body forever.” Nothing held that much meaning to me until now. The second I saw your picture I knew that was exactly what I wanted and I knew it would have a significant meaning to me forever. With your permission I would love to use your tribute photo for my first tattoo.
To all the PGR members that I met and didn’t get a chance to meet, I was so sad when I realized there were so many people I didn’t get a chance to say goodbye to. I know I am forgetting a lot of people in my thank you’s and I am sorry. Everyone I met held a special spot in my weekend and I will remember you all forever. There were so many emotions mixed into the weekend, we all laughed, cried, joked, drank, and some probably even fought together. I gained so many life long friends through out the weekend… If any of you ever need anything from my end of the world ya’ll got a Cali girl on your side over here…
A few important things I learned over the weekend:
~Flip flops that are made out of particular materials DO MELT on exhaust pipes
~There are huge flying beetle creatures in “Jawga” that we don’t have here in California
~Stay away from the enormous ants you have there, when they bite your ankle it really does hurt!
~When planning to ride for a long time in the sun in flip flops, don’t forget to sunscreen your feet
~Pull the shades while changing in your hotel, even if you think they are no see through, you are wrong!
~Your frog’s hop a lot faster than ours do in California… maybe they are just smarter…
The one huge thing I learned though is how much the PGR never ceases to amaze me no matter where I am!
I Would Definitely Say Mission Accomplished!!!

It has taken some time to stop and think of all the blessings that came to pass from this now legendary mission. Aside from thanking the leaders; I would also like to express my utmost respect and appreciation for ALL riders, regardless of whether they were with us physically or emotionally. I know that both Croc Doc and I carried with us hundreds of fellow Texans in spirit, whom would have given their eye teeth to be able to stand tall and silent with us.
God put us that were blessed enough to attend in the right place at the right time. It was all a part of the master plan. Our leaders...and because I am human and will miss some or mis spell them I won't be listing them...but our leaders were incredible...WHO else could have led SO many different people from ALL over the states into this one mission...AMAZING.
I don't know if you all see what I do when I go into a mission. I find that no matter where or what circumstances we are under there is a family unit...a gathering of SO much more than guards. We ARE Patriot Guard Riders, but more so than that, we are American brothers and sisters. I find that I am assured...however embarrassed I get...I am ASSURED that it is OK to cry...as much as I try to hold it in...it isn't just the loss of an American Hero...but also my thankfulness that there are people...family out here that DO care...we don't GAIN anything from standing tall and silent...EXCEPT the honor of having that right...that privilege.
I love both my GA and TX family. I do however see a distinct difference. In speaking to Snap I tried to put it as simply as I could without slaughtering my thoughts, or disrespecting one state or the other...The GA guard BLEEDS in red, white and blue.
I believe that the nation could learn ALLOT from watching the Georgia guard in action. That doesn't take from the wonderful deeds or works of any of the other states, Texas included....but there is a very deep deep deep regard to details with the missions in GA.
I pray that I will see you all again...Wherever I go...or don't or should or shouldn't... I carry the sweet memories of my family away from family...the incredible PGR brothers and sisters from Georgia.
Thank you for all you have done and I KNOW will continue to do.
All my love to all you forever, HUGS, T |

I'd like to remind everyone that if you want the
de Moors mission patch, to get it ordered pronto.. They are going fast
with orders for 10 or more at a time coming in and although the patch
is available for anyone to purchase, I'd really love for
everyone who participated in this ride or contributed in any way to
this mission to have the opportunity to wear this patch. The
details about it are posted below in case anyone missed them on the
other thread. Since the ride report thread does not allow you to
post an image, there is a link to the image posted at the bottom where
I placed
the image on my personal website. If you know of anyone who
made this ride or contributed to the de Moors fund or anyone who might
like to have it and may not know about it, please let them know.
The more patches sold, the more money goes into the de Moors childrens
fund.
The patch is $5.50. This de Moors mission commemorative
patch was created by Rainy with the assistance of State Captain Gene
Altman/Ga.Pointman and Ride Captain Chip/ Night Sentry Oehring and approved by
Vendella de Moors. An image of the original design is below and the face in the
image is Lt. de Moors himself. The insignia on the sleeve patch is his unit 3rd
Cavalry Regiment.
The sewout will not be as
'exact' as the design image.. you can't do with thread what you can do with
pixels! A portion of the sales of this patch goes to the de Moors childrens
college fund on behalf of the Patriot Guard and the great state of Georgia. I
am awaiting the second sew out of the patch. The first one was not acceptable
and I sent it back. The original date for me to receive shipment was to between
the 8th and 11th of this month.. That will be pushed back a few days while they
do a 3rd sew out. I sent back 1 and 2. If it's not right, I won't accept it and it will go back
til it's done right! I will ship these out the instant I receive them on a
first come first served basis. Paypal dates and time stamps these payments so I
can send them out in the order the payments were received. There are a lot of
orders already in and your patches will be the first one's out. Anyone else
wanting to order this patch may do so by paypal. Anyone having trouble with
paypal, please email me and I'll see what I can do to help but follow these
instructions first. The account is set up to accept credit card payments or
debits from your checking account.. When asked the email address that the
payment is to be sent to, please enter: demoors_mission@charter.net. THERE IS AN UNDERSCORE
BETWEEN DEMOORS AND MISSION.. IF YOU USE A DASH OR LEAVE IT BLANK THE EMAIL
ADDRESS WILL NOT WORK! COPY AND PASTE IT INTO THE FIELD ON PAYPAL THAT REQUIRES
THE EMAIL ADDRESS FOR WHERE YOUR PAYMENT IS GOING. Copy and paste from this:
demoors_mission@charter.net
The patch image can be seen here: The link should be clickable,
if not, just cut and paste it into your browser address bar.

As I read what everyone has posted about the DeMoors Mission, it is hard to hold back. Chip, as I have told you numerous times....awesome job. Deltoid, Slack, Heartfelt, JoeRocket and Pointman.....ou all helped in some way to make this thing perfect....thanks for helping Chip. To all of my brothers and sisters in GA and all ove the country....you are the reason PGR is successful.....incredible people forming an unforgetable group.
I will be short and brief.....The build up to this mission was huge. As Heather and I left on Friday to stage in Woodstock, I met for the first time my boys from VA, Jewelzzzz and DaddiesGirl....so much fun to be around. We rode in the HOT sun to PTC for the first stage. Good food, great company, and the opportunity to meet Joe Rocket and my new friend..Heartfelt. Quick ride to Vendella's house...and on to the Airport via I 85 and I 185. When the airplane landed and I ws at the end as a pallbearer..just speechless. To see that small casket made me remember my beautiful boys at home. It is not right to bury a child that small. Hard to get the words out. I assisted in putting Gabriel in the car. We mounted and rode to the cemetary....many, many bikes...I am sure the locals were in awe. The Phenix City officer at the entrance to Fort Mitchell was an awesome sight. The service in the pavillion was moving. The songs, the verbage, the flag given by Slack, the pictures by Snap...just incredible. We ate dinner at the Applebees with about40 of our best friends, including my new bros from VA. Cool dudes...see you at the CAT in Newport News. Shower at the hotel and the cold beer that Thumpers hubby, Bill, went and got....much needed and great tasting. Fun night with a handful of people....somethings to remember..and some to forget.
Absolutely awesome mission. You people never cease to amaze me. I love being PGR!!!!

Just wanted to comment on the coverage by the various media. The pictures and the videos bring it all back to life. It truly warms the heart. I am proud to have been some small part of this great mission.
The video of the Utah riders was great! To all of you: Thank you for a job well done! It looked like you were up way before the sun to transport this very special cargo.

There have been a lot of people who put a lot of heart and hard work into this mission. This has got to be on of the PGR's finest hours. The opportunity to bring a father and son back tofether, even in death, is a wonderful thing. I wish I could have been there. I don't think thanks is enoughin this case...everyone involved ... I have waited some days for my emotions to settles and my thoughts to collect and it seems impossible. This was my first time to ride and stand with the Patriot Guard Riders. It will always be a memorable part of my life for that reason as well as the awesome celebration of love, life, honour, and respect that was shown for the De Moors family and the fallen hero. I have stood in the gap with some brave and good men in my time but I could be no more proud than I am now to stand with the men and women of the Patriot Guard. I am truely grateful that you have allowed me to join with your ranks to honour our brave deffenders, to stand fast with our beloved standard, to show the world that our heros have not toiled and died for nothing. I am so grateful to Trog and Lady Trog for their hospitality and their example of how it should be done. It was my pleasure and honor to ride and stay with you. Me casa su casa! I met and rode with so many wonderful people that I hesitate to mention names lest I offend with my aged memory. I had to ride all the way to Ga. to meet my sister rider from just down the street. I'm glad you made it T and it will be my pleasure to ride with you anytime. I could spend all night naming names but I will just say that I am a better person for having made the journey to get to know you all. May God bless me by allowing me to ride with you again, preferably in joy as was this mission but just as willingly in sorrow to bear up our fallen heroes. God bless you all. Ride safe The CrocDoc |

| Well, here it is the 18th of August. I am still having moments of strong emotions as I remember all that happened the morning of August 4th, 2006. I cannot find any better words than those already posted, especially those by Chip and Snap. I am not ever going to forget this event, nor will I ever be able to properly express my gratitude to Chip for letting me in to participate, or Snap for getting the mission going in the first place. Time will not erase the memory, the joy, the sadness. Time will not erase the gratitude I have for the PGR brothers and sisters in Utah that made this happen in a manner that brought to life what the PGR Mission Statement really means. There will likely never be another mission with the magnitude, complexity, distance, and shear numbers of PGR Members involved as this one was (and still is). So, I end this saying that I am humbled, and honored to be amoungst you all, and one day I hope to meet you and tell you in person my deep feelings for each of you. |
