Mike, give me a call Sunday afternoon or evening.  I'll have a better 'grip' on what I'll be doing about this mission.

Doubt if I'll have my ride back by then and, even if I did, don't know if this is what my neuro had in mind when he said I could start riding again.  Might be overdoing just a bit but, nevertheless, I'll let you know if I'll be going.

Ride safe my friend.

Best wishes and God's blessings to thi fallen heroe and his family!

I will be attending and hope to hook up with the New Castle Hermitage group! If anyone from yesterdays mission for CWO Donahoe is reading this I hope to see you there. If my brothers from Washington PA are going drop me an email at jesse.mercure@us.army.mil. To those who went yesterday GREAT job!!! Just remember we were not cold or wet and it was not as hot or dusty as it is in Iraq today. If that was your first mission I can gaurantee the next one will be different and probably bigger and better.

Ride Safe!!

FINAL ITINERARY: Last Updated 8/11/2006
Cpl. Joseph Tomci - USMC - Stow, OH - 14 Aug 06

Funeral Services:
The funeral service for Cpl. Joseph Tomci will be held on Monday, August 14 at 1030 hrs at the Holy Family Catholic Church, 3450 Sycamore Drive, Stow, Ohio, 44244. We have been granted permission by two businesses (Advanced & Falls Outdoor Sports, Inc.) on the South East corner of the intersection to stage in their parking lot at the corner of Hudson Drive and Front Street (State Route 59), Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, 44224 just 1.5 miles west of the church. There are several reasons for staging in this location but local police strongly suggested staging to the west of the church due to the intersection of State Route 91 and State Route 59 is an extremely busy intersection. Staging will begin at 0800 hrs. The pre-ride announcements will commence at 0830 hrs and we’ll move from the staging area to the church at 0840 hrs, flags up at 0845 hrs (All times are Eastern) We will travel from the staging area to a cemetery directly across the street from the church.

Procession & Interment:
Interment is at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery which is approximately 30 miles west. We have been granted permission to ride in the procession to Ohio Western Reserve Cemetery. The procession should leave the Holy Family Catholic Church at approximately 1130 hrs.

Weather:
The weather forecast as of August 11, 2006 is, it may be sunny or it may be raining (plan accordingly). One news channels this morning reported Sunny conditions, the other reported Rain for the Akron area but both agreed it would be in the 80s. Bring your rain gear and sun block.

Staging facilities:
We are staging in the parking lot of Advanced & Falls Outdoor Sports, Inc. on the South East corner of Hudson Drive and Front Street (State Route 59), Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, 44224.
Across the street is a gas station and there were no eateries close (other than a doughnut shop) so I would suggest you bring a snack, sandwich and water.

Updated Directions to the staging area:

From NW Ohio Area:
Using Ohio Turnpike exit at Exit 180 (State Route 8)
South on State Route 8, exit at Second Street Exit, make Left on BAILEY ROAD
Left on FRONT STREET and one block NORTH is HUDSON DRIVE, right after the light turn into the parking lot, right hand side

From SW Ohio Area:
Find your way from Cincinnati / Columbus to Akron area (Hint I-71)
At Exit 209 Take Interstate 76 EAST to Exit 23B, North on State Route 8 (is also State Route 59) until State Route 8 and State Route 59 split (Front Street and State Route 59 are the same road) Exit from State Route 8 at the Stow / Front Street / State Route 59 exit, the staging area is ½ mile on the right after the HUDSON DRIVE / FRONT STREET intersection…

From SE Ohio Area:
North Interstate 77 and Exit at State Route 8, North on State Route 8 (is also State Route 59) until State Route 8 and State Route 59 split (Front Street and State Route 59 are the same road) Exit from State Route 8 at the Stow / Front Street / State Route 59 exit, the staging area is ½ mile on the right after the HUDSON DRIVE / FRONT STREET intersection …

From North Eastern PA Area:
Follow Interstate 80 West / Interstate 76 West until Exit 23B. North on State Route 8 (is also State Route 59) until State Route 8 and State Route 59 split (Front Street and State Route 59 are the same roads) Exit from State Route 8 at the Stow / Front Street / State Route 59 exit, the staging area is ½ mile on the right after the HUDSON DRIVE / FRONT STREET intersection …

Regrettably, I will be unable to attend this mission as I'm scheduled to begin therapy Monday afternoon.

Cpl Tomci, thank you for the supreme sacrifice you have made to allow me, and every other American, to live  in this great country.  That sacrifice shall never be forgotten.  May you rest in everylasting peace and may your family find comfort in knowing we in the PGR are forever grateful.

To all the support from out of state and across this great country, thank you all for the support, the condolences, the thoughts, the prayers  you have shared.  This family will know first hand, what America thinks of it's servicemen, and will know how much we appreciate the sacrifices for our freedoms.

I for one will enjoy each and every day, knowing I am free, and relishing in the light of life, for I AM FREE.  It is my duty to enjoy that which I have been given, and respect the cost of that.  I will continue to ride for them that fought, and continue to fight so hard for my freedom to ride.  I chose to ride in their honor, for them, for me, for my  family, I ride proudly, with a purpose, ON A MISSION OF RESPECT.

How I live is because of them, and those before and after them.  How my views have changed for this younger generation..... for they have continued the fight, and for that I am deeply greatful.  I have changed, totally, my thoughts of our future, for because of the men and women in our service, I have the confidence that THERE IS STILL HOPE.  As long as Americans stand up for what is right, there IS HOPE.

In the honor of our forefathers, we must continue to support, honor and respect those that place our lives before there own.  As for me, and us, and those after us..............

WE ARE ON A MISSION OF FREEDOM.

See you Monday Joseph, for in your honor,    I STAND PROUD, IN HONOR AND RESPECT.

Enjoy your life and freedoms, for a most costly price is being paid for them. Support those that pay that price, and sacrifice, FOR US.
