The family of 1st Lt Forrest Ewans has granted us the honor of paying our respects to this HERO.

WHEN: THURSDAY, 22 JUNE 2006 1700hrs

WHERE:  Peninsula Christian Fellowship Church 3114-45th St Ct NW, Gig Harbor, WA

ITINERARY:  Staging at Destination Harley in Fife 2302 Pac Hwy E at 1530hrs

Ride Briefing at 1545hrs, kickstands up at 1600hrs, arrive at 1630hrs (allowed double travel time)

Directions to Peninsula Christian Fellowship:
From Hwy 16 heading East or West
Take the Olympic Drive Exit
Head West on Olympic Drive (coming from Tacoma, take a left, coming from Bremerton take a right)
Turn Left on Pt Fosdick Drive (first major intersection)
Turn Right on 45th Street Ct NW
The Church will be on your Left about 2 blocks. We will be directed to overflow parking, most likely behind Urgent Care.



South End Riders:
Guardian isn't available, but suggests that if you meet at Northwest Harley at 1500 you should make it to DHD in time to hook up with the rest of us. Need somebody to lead that group.

Peninsula Riders:
You're welcome to meet us at DHD, but given the time of day it would be easiest to meet at the church. There is a small strip mall on Point Fosdick Drive, if you want to stage there and fall in behind us as we pass by.

North End Riders:
Pete will lead the group from the usual Starbucks in Lynnwood. Briefing at 1415, kickstands up at 1430. (See further directions on page 3 of this thread)

June 19, 2006

DoD Identifies Army Casualty

            The Department of Defense announced today the death of two soldiers who were supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

 

            They died in Pech River Valley, Afghanistan, on June 16, when their all terrain vehicle struck an improvised explosive device during combat operations.  Both soldiers were assigned to the 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), Fort Drum, N.Y.

 

            Killed were:

 

            1st Lt. Forrest P. Ewens, 25, of Washington State.

 

            Sgt. Ian T. Sanchez, 26, of Staten Island, N.Y.

This is really a sad day. Another fine American has died doing what is right and just. To the Ewens family, I want you all to know that I am proud of what Forrest has stood for. Not having ever met the man, I can say that he is a brother to many and a hero to all.
