Matt--with or without a bike, it doesn't matter. Show up and pay respects. Maybe bring a flag and stand proudly to honor the fallen and show respectful support for the family.

I won't apologize for being an American!

Since our State Captain, Brad Volk, has run into a little bit of a timing issue with this mission (I guess moving to Bozeman qualifies as a schedule conflict, right?) I'm going to be the ride captain for this mission. I'm a rookie, but understand that there are several experienced and helpful people who will be participating. I'll do my best to keep things well organized, keep people informed, and most of all, help show a proud display of PGR support for the family and friends of Sgt. Travis Van Zoest. Once I get information from the family contact regarding location and time, I'll get it on this board right away. It's an honor to take a leadership role, and I'll ask for help to ensure that we carry out this mission with coordination, dignity and honor.

I won't apologize for being an American!

Sgt. Van Zoest was and always will be a good friend of mine. I only knew him for a few short years but he left such a tremendous impression on me. One fine, fine young man. My heart and prayers go out to his family and loved ones and I stand oh so tall with pride in knowing him. I will miss him as I'm sure many more people will also. I'll miss you little buddy and we'll ride with pride for you on that special day. Rest in peace young man.

Dan,
As I said in my email, we are here to help you in any way we can..One reminder to all that ride the PGR missions
Bring your Flags, a line of supporters holding 3x5 flags is an awesome tribute to a Fallen Hero. They are also an effective tool to block, you know who...Again Dan you will do fine and we are here to support you..

Here's the newest info that I have after talking to Keisia Austin's father: (Keisia was engaged to Travis)

The bodies of these soldiers have yet to hit US soil in Dover, DE. That means there are no firm dates or times for services. At best, we should have a date, time and location nailed down on Monday. The tentative plans right now are for the funeral to be held at the Church of Corpus Christi, which is at 1919 N. 2nd St. in Bismarck, and burial to take place at the ND Veterans' Cemetery just south of Mandan. I'm familiar with the church, and knowing there will be a large turnout of mourners I think I'll contact the management at Northbrook Mall about 3 blocks away for staging purposes. The church parking lot is not all that large, and the nearby mall has low traffic and a huge parking lot.

I'll post further details as Mr. Austin and others make them available.

Dan

We will be there (at both Thursday and Saturday)! Please tell me, those of you who know, how it will be best for us to attend with our six children ages infant up to 9 years. This will be our first. We will not be riding, we will be standing. Should we be at the staging area? Should we plan to be somewhere else? We have a flag for each of our kids and we will stand proud as a family to show our appreciation and respect for these young heros. Thank you for your input.

I still can't ride because of my back, so I'll have to drive again.

Anyone else from Grand forks headed down Sat morning? I've got room in my car. I plan on getting an early start, say just before 4 am.

We're going to be there. My wife and I both grew up in ND and used to live in Bismarck. We'll be leaving Friday evening from Sioux Falls SD, after work and spending the night somewhere along the way (no firm plans yet). If anyone wants to ride with us we'd be proud to have you along. God bless Sgt. Van Zoest and his family
