First, to the Family of Maj Stover, my deepest and most sincere condolences on your loss. I served in Iraq with Mike and MWSS-371, and he will be greatly missed by everyone whose lives he touched.
TO ALRTater and the other PGR who are standing by: Like I said above, I served last summer with Mike in MWSS-371 while we were deployed to Iraq. He is a true "Marine's Marine" and an exceptional leader. I am still assigned to MWSS-371 in Yuma, AZ, and the news of his passing has hit this unit like a freight train. The request has been forwarded to the family in Mansfield and to the Casualty Officer assisting them. As information becomes available, I will assist in forwarding that to ALRTater or whomever is going to head the ride up in Ohio. Unfortunately, I will be unable to make the trip up to Ohio, however, several of our Unit wlll be there. As for services in Arizona, arrangements are still pending. In the coming weeks, we expect to have a memorial service at the base chapel, when the family is available to come down. That request has also been forwarded, and once word becomes available and dates are solidified, I will post that information here for the PGR. Any PGR is free to contact me for information as needed or desired.
I was hoping to never have to ride a mission, although I knew that was going to likely be impossible to avoid. However, if this turns to be my first mission ride, it will make it that much more difficult, but at the same time, a true honor and priveledge to make my first mission one for a warrior with whom I proudly served in combat.
