Thank you for the honor of attending these services, hearing from friends and family was very touching and he was a great guy. The stories they shared about Doug's service to country and growing up were just very very touching. Thank you for the honor

RI Home Safe pulled in at 9:30, a few small showers on the way home nothing to major and it actually got warmer the closer home I got.

Home safe, sound and soggy.  Like the rest of you, I wish to thank Nicole and the rest of the family for allowing us the honor of standing in respect for Doug.  I was so moved by the various points of view of just what a deep person Capt DiCenzo actually was, not only as a USA Capt (and West Point Cadet) but as a high school athlete, brother, and husband/daddy.  He obviously had his values in the correct order!!

What a joy it was to watch Dak clambering around and in my mind I thought, he gets that honestly (hearing the stories of mom and dad climbing mountains and rock jumping, etc).  Then, after highsalute cut a baloon for him, to see it rising to the heavens, I thought how appropriate that little Dak had (unknowingly) sent his baloon to his Daddy, who is, without a doubt, standing guard in God's House!

My brothers and sisters in PGR, you have once again made me so proud to be part of this family!!  To the Plymouth Police Department, especially to the Chief, and also to Alex at the Common Man Inn, it is obvious that you think highly of this family and I wish to thank you on all our behalf for you hospitality today!  You helped make our trip more comfortable!

And, by the way, Ed (who for what ever reason I called you Scott today) thanks for helping me when my "Old Glory" snapped from her mooring coming up Rt 93 and ended up on the highway...making us late to the staging area.  I just realized I still have your bungy cord - I owe ya one!

Thanks,
Paul

Frebrd and I arrived home safely, wet,yet full of emotions from such a lovely Celebration of Life for Capt. Dicenzo. My husband and I were honored today to be part of the celebration. Doug took the oath to protect our freedom and our country and did an outstanding job. He is an American Hero and will forever be in our hearts in Maine.

The last two from Maine here. We arrived at home safely and thankful to have been a part of the celebration of Capt. Dicenzo's life. He was truly blessed with wonderful family and friends as they were with him. The sacrifice they made for our freedom will never be forgotten.

This is only my second mission with the PGR.... Again, it was a mission that touch my heart.. Seeing little Mr Dicenzo running around tirelessly, up and down the hill, with the wide eyed look on him, was a moving moment.... I know threw the love of his mother, and other family members, he will know what a true hero his dad was.... Doug will live on forever in our hearts, and threw his son.... God bless them all....
Even though it was raining off and on, and some PGR member rode a long way... I did not hear one complaint of the weather.. We were there to honor a Fallen Hero... Again I was, and am honorred to ride with such Patriots as yourselves....
Thank you for your sevice to keep us safe and free Capt. Decenzo,,, and thank you PGR for letting me have the honor, of honorring a fallen hero with you....

Again, another very emotional mission for me. Each one, in it's own way, affects me. What I have found, even though they are all very emotional, even though, at each one, I shed more tears for the fallen heroes and for the families left behind, is that each mission brings me more strength and resolve. Each time I ride on one of these, I find a little more healing for me and my  personal experiences from my own time in the service. It becomes easier some how, each time I go, to look back at, and embrace, what I saw and did. It seems like it really is, finally, ok now!
To the entire family of Doug Dicenzo, thank you so very much for allowing us to be there with you. Thank you for making this a celebration of his life. I wish I had known him, because it's very clear from what we saw, and what everyone said of him, he was truly an extraordinary man! As so many have pointed out, little Dak is a wonder! He brightened our day despite why we were there. Your family is amazing! Dan, that you were able to stand and speak for as long as you did, without falling apart, speaks volumes about you, your brother, and your whole family! To the military personal, thank you all so very much! It was an honor to be able to shake hands with you, and to say thank you! To the Chief of Police, sir, thank you again for your welcome to us. That you took the time to walk our line and shake each of our hands and tell each of us thank you was truly impressive! You all have a wonderful town, and wonderful people, and we are all most honored that you allowed and welcomed us to be there with you to honor this fine American hero!
As others have said, if there's every anything you need, any way we can help you, please give us a yell! we will do all we can for you!

We offer our deepest appreciation to the family and friends of Capt. Doug Dicenzo for allowing us to be a small part of the celebration of his life. What was shared was so deeply moving that we will forever admire and be inspired by him. His spirit truly lives on.

Thanks as well the local PGR organizers for doing a terrific job and making us feel welcome on only our second mission.

A simple but heartfelt thank you for all those who rode to support the DiCenzo family.  I am glad no protestors showed but I knew that you would look out for Nicole if they had.  You will never know what you give to these families.  Thanks so much.  -erica-

Erica,

It was an honor and a priviledge to attend the memorial and the gathering afterward. I had the opportunity to speak to both Nichole and Doug's mother at the restaurant, I was deeply touched by their heartfelt gratitude. The appreciation of the families is more than enough motivation for us to do what we do.

If you or the DiCenzo family ever need anything please don't hesitate to contact us.

My name is MAJ Kevin P. Butler. I just found out about this today. I was Doug's Company Commander when he was a Lieutenant in B/2-1 IN, Fort Wainwright Alaska.

The news of his death hit me like a ton of bricks. I started to do a search on the web for more information and stumbled upon this site. Reading all of your replies has really put a lump in my throat not only because you are all such caring and good people, but because Doug was truly a great soldier and leader. I can say without a doubt that he was the best Platoon Leader I ever had the privelage to serve with....and as a result, I know he had to be the best Company Commander in his Battalion. When he first arrived at my Company I could not believe how mature and knowledgable he was. As a Lieutenant he acted with the poise of a seasoned Captain of Infantry. I could always rely on him and his platoon to accomplish the toughest of tasks. I can only imagine how good he must have been as a Company Commander. I remember that he and Nicole had just gotten married and the wedding pictures he had taken on the beach. Baby Dakin will grow up to know his daddy was a true hero fighting for what is right and made the ultimate sacrifice.

Nicole and family if you read this please accept my deepest condolences. I am truly very sorry for your loss. Your Husband, Son, Brother is a true hero and don't you ever forget it.

Doug.. it has been an honor to know and serve with you.

Rangers Lead Way my brother ... and you certainly did.

Kevin P. Butler

If anybody knows Nicole's address could you please email me at kevin.p.butler@us.army.mil

Thank you all for the support and love you show for our fallen heros.

Thank you to all the PGR for what you do.  From my heart, thank you for enduring the wet and cold ride to stand in honor of Doug DiCenzo.  My daughter, Nicole, wife of Capt DiCenzo, is eternally grateful, as are the rest of the family and friends.  I am working on a scrapbook  that will help little Dak know how wonderful his Dad is.  Your messages will have a special place in the scrapbook.  Thanks so much for your ride and your heartfelt observations from the memorial service.  God Bless all of you.
