As you may have seen, the BOD recently announced an adopted policy on how to acknowledge businesses that have donated money to the PGR. The announcement of this policy was met with many questions and reservations. While there was never a chance of a NASCAR style PGR - "This mission of honor and respect has been brought you by Ford, Miller Lite, Ameriquest, and Little Debbie snack cakes" - your concern of the PGR pandering to a supporting business was heard loud and clear. The BOD recently took up this topic in conversation to see what refinements could be made. With this topic open for discussion, some early agreements were made. 1. The PGR (and it's membership) is not a marketing and/or sales opportunity for anyone. 2. Any business that wants to financially support the PGR - that truly believes in the mission of the PGR - will do so with no strings attached... no thank you needed. 3. PGR members have expressed the desire to patronize businesses that have shown support for the PGR. With well intentioned discussion and concern, we arrive at the following: The PGR will recognize any business that donates to the Patriot Guard Riders by simply placing the company name on a web page that is titled "Thank You for Donating to the PGR in 2007". This page will recognize any donation in the year they donate and the page will refresh every 01 JAN. There is no minimum contribution - there is no tiered ranking for increased support. Every organization earns a heartfelt thank you... for doing what they can. There will not be graphics, no web links, no marketing tag lines - just a sincere thank you. The Member businesses page will be discontinued in the next month. While we recognize that there are numerous businesses run by our members - we need to take a firm stance on the solicitation of our membership. I'll reference you to the first agreement point above: The PGR is not a sales opportunity for anyone. If a member wishes to have their business listed on the Thank You page, they can make a contribution in the name of that business (again, no minimum). We recognize that there may be some unrest with this decision, however, consistency is critical. Finally, the BOD has reserved the right to present a Certificate of Appreciate and/or PGR plaque to recognize substantial donations. This gains the business no increased visibility to our membership, but allows the BOD to do something more formal should the situation warrant. I do hope you can all feel more comfortable with this new program. I am confidant that the BOD valued your feedback and indeed took it to heart. While no decision will ever achieve 100% support, we do believe that this is much more in line with the mission and spirit or the PGR. As always... thank you all for your time, your efforts, and your support. Respectfully, Jeff |
