~ FINAL MISSION REPORT ~ It was a cool & cloudy afternoon at Holy Cross Cemetery in Two Rivers, Wisconsin on Saturday, 9/6/08. 19 Patriot Guard members stood the flagline in silent vigil for Spc. Shaun Novak. The H.S. band & a men's choir were there in addition to a bagpiper. Hundreds of friends & family were there, as well. A bronze, life-size statue of a soldier in full battledress, kneeling in prayer was dedicated at the front entrance of this cemetery where Shaun is buried. The Patriot Guard escorted him home two years ago when he was killed in action. We came again to demonstrate our RESPECT and COMPASSION to him & his family. Before the ceremony, we formed the circle of comfort at his gravesite, and recited a prayer in his memory. A few Goldstar families and many bluestar families were in attendance. Many active duty military were present in uniform, along with Legion/VFW members. It was a great tribute to him and ALL Veterans. It was our extreme honor to be there for him once again. May the Good Lord grant him peace and give his family comfort. YOU ARE NOT FORGOTTEN, Shaun. "Save one backward glance for the places they can no longer go". Michael Weaver,Patriot Guard,SRC, N.E.
