ALL VETERANS MEMORIAL DEDICATION
Turkey Brook Park
Mt. Olive, NJ
Sunday, May 25, 2008

On Sunday, May 25, 2008 at 2:00PM, the All Veterans Memorial will be be officially dedicated and opened to the public in Turkey Brook Park, Mt. Olive, NJ. One of the more interesting features of this memorial will be the 'Purple Heart' bridge, honoring all New Jersey residents who have fallen while fighting in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Because of the part we have played in honoring these heroes, the Patriot Guard Riders have been asked to participate in this dedication, and I have agreed. The families of these heroes have also been invited to attend. The memorial itself has been constructed in the shape of the Medal of Honor.

There will be 88 flags arranged for this ceremony, and also individual pavers on the memorial, for each of the service members killed. The organizers are hoping we can have enough of a presence that each flag will be guarded by a Patriot Guard Rider.

Staging information and ride itineraries will be provided as more information becomes available.

*******************Friday, May 16, 2008 Mission Update******************

In a discussion this morning with one of the organizers, I learned of the following situation. In addition to the reasons given above for our invitation to attend the dedication of this memorial, there is more than a passing concern that there is a possibility that this dedication is going to be attended by certain 'uninvited guests'. I assured the individual I was speaking to that there would be no problem with this issue. Just wanted to keep you folks updated as we get closer to the dedication day.

Kudos to my friends across the river. This sounds like a great thing to honor your bravest citizens.

I would definitely ride for this mission, but we shall be in Washington, saying "Thank You," to all of America's bravest.

Way to go NJ!

I am in. Standing by in Jefferson.

Usually at a time like this I struggle for words to comfort a friend who has suffered a loss. The right words don’t often come, but if accompanied by the right sentiment they can be soothing. But I have learned over time that the best comfort at a time like this comes from those who watch over us. My beliefs allow me to be comforted by a certainty that I am watched over by those who have gone before me.

On behalf of a grateful nation, we honor and thank these heroes. They will never be forgotten.

Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you: 1. Jesus Christ. 2. The American G.I. One died for your soul, the other for your Freedom.

I'm new here and would love to attend. Will there be any groups leaving from the central NJ area? I will also tell my group of Legion Riders so we can help with this mission.
