 Roy James, 60, a U.S. Army Veteran and combat medic during the Vietnam conflict, passed away Tuesday, 6 May 2008.

   Roy served "In Country" from 1967 to 1969 as an Army Medic being awarded many ribbons and medals for his service there.  According to one Veteran, Roy had pulled him and two others to safety, under heavy enemy fire, and treated their wounds on the battlefield.  This Veteran had stopped by to thank Roy for saving his life, only to learn of his passing.  He was a member of the Vietnam Vets, American Legion and DAV.

   Services for Roy were held on Friday, 9 May 2008, at the Wallace Funeral Home in Barboursville, WV with graveside services on Saturday, 10 May 2008, at the Baylous Cemetery in Salt Rock, WV.

   My sincere apologies for not offering PGR assistance to another Hero from the Vietnam Era.  Word of his passing was only received today.

   Please join me in offering your condolences to Roy's wife, Deborah, as well as his daughters, Lori and Angele.
Respects,
Joe

   Thank you, Roy, for your honorable service to our country when such service was not duly appreciated.  The heroism you displayed on the battlefields of Southeast Asia shall never be forgotten by those you served.  May God grant you safe passage and give you the Welcome Home that you earned as you approach the Gates of Heaven.

   Deborah, Lori, Angele and all of Roy's family and friends, may you find comfort in God's healing hands and mercy.  May you take comfort in knowing that he continues to watch over you from his rightful place among the Angels.

   Please accept my sincere apologies for  not learning of this sooner.  It would truly have been a privilege to show Roy the Honor and Respect he deserved.

   Rest in honored peace Roy James.  Your tour of duty is now complete.  A grateful Nation salutes you.  God Speed.
Respects,
Joe

I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to Roy James for his service to our country. Over the years, many have chosen to stay at home during wars/conflicts, but it’s the “warriors” who make the difference…the ones who give of themselves, the ones who give up time with family and loved ones…yes, they are the ones who will always be remembered as the true heroes. May God give an extra measure of strength and comfort to the family and loved ones of Roy at this difficult time. In the hearts of true patriots, Roy will always be remembered as a real hero, and I salute him for his service to America!

Our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Roy James, Army, Viet Nam Veteran. May God help you though this difficult time and sorrow. He is one of America's Heroes that will never be forgotten.

Rest Safely and Securely in God's Loving Arms, Roy.

Going home, going home,
I'm just going home.
Quiet-like, slip away-
I'll be going home.
It's not far, just close by;
Jesus is the Door;
Work all done, laid aside,
Fear and grief no more.
Friends are there, waiting now.
He is waiting, too.
See His smile! See His hand!
He will lead me through.

Morning Star lights the way;
Restless dream all done;
Shadows gone, break of day,
Life has just begun.
Every tear wiped away,
Pain and sickness gone;
Wide awake there with Him!
Peace goes on and on!
Going home, going home,
I'll be going home.
See the Light! See the Sun!
I'm just going home.
