Captain Patten was killed on 27 Jun when his patrol came under fire in the Sangin Valley, Afghanistan.

As with any volunteer organization, don’t volunteer for a job unless you have the knowledge and time to do the job right. Anything less is a disservice to the organization.

Your rest is well deserved; we have the watch!

We ride hundreds of miles for funerals here in the States. I, for one, would swap the Stars and Stripes for a Union Jack, if there were a bridge to get us there, for the benefit of your family.

My highest regards to CPT David Patten for all the sacrifices that he endured during the course of his military career, leading to the ultimate moment of sacrifice. To his country, his family, his loved ones, and fellow soldiers, I offer my deepest sympathy. We are all in this business together, and all who fight the minions of Evil are our brothers. May God Bless David Patten and give him peace. And for all who sorrow at his loss, it is my prayer  that the Comforter will ease their pain.
