Det 1, Bat B, 147th Field Artillery
South Dakota National Guard Sioux Falls, South Dakota
(Tentative: Oct 20, 2008)
Major Aaron C. Schultz, SDARNG, has requested the Patriot Guard Riders,Rolling Thunder, The American Legion Riders, Christian Riders and all Other Military Supported Ride Groups and people to welcome Det 1, Battery B, 147th Field Artillery of the South Dakota National Guard. The Patriot Guard was there to send the 147th FA off to Iraq last October. We presented a Patriot Guard Riders flag to the unit commander, Major Kory Knight. Major Knight later informed us that they had the PGR flag proudly flying on the base flag pole beneath Old Glory. Now we can be there to welcome the unit home safely. I'm happy to report that the unit had no casualties during their deployment. The return date is still tentative but is expected to be on or about October 20, 2008. This date is subject to change, so members are encouraged to check back to this posting for updates.
Staging: is planned for J & L Harley-Davidson, which is located at 2601 W 60th St N, Sioux Falls. This is located off Exit 82 from I-29, and go less than 1/2 mile east. Times will be announced when the arrival time is known.
The Ride Captains for this mission are Asst State Captain Jim Lentsch and Ride Captain Gary Saxhaug.

We plan to have the Sioux Falls PD help with the escort as well.

Our debt to the Heroic men and Valiant women in the service of our country can never be repaid . They have earned our undying gratitude. America will never forget their sacrifices (President Harry S. Truman)
During these days of many trials and tribulations that our land of the free are facing, let us remember to hold our heads up high in remembrance for those who gave thier life for our freedom and those that are still in harms way for this cause. Pray for the brokenhearted and proclaim victory for those who are held captive. Lord, You are the light of the world and we declare You to be Lord over every nation. We know your light shines in darkness and the darkness does not always comprehend, but we also know You light will always prevail. Amen. Chaplin, Lorraine Richmond.

What an awesome Welcome Home! The escort down Minnesota Ave was something else, seeing traffic stopped as far as the eye could see....I can only imagine what it was like from their perspective. Here's a link to some pictures I took:
