Corrected Date!! 23 August 08
*************************SURPRISE*************************
Specialist (soon to be Sgt) Dustin (Dusty) Schmit will be coming home for some R&R.
He is currently on his 2nd deployment in Iraq. During Dusty’s first deployment, his CO was Col Michael Steele, who was Capt. Steele from the Real Black Hawk Down experience in Mogadishu.
This fine soldier enlisted in the Army days after 9/11 as he felt compelled to do his part for our Great Nation. He was injured during training and the Army actually released him from service. Dusty fought the bureaucracy and was granted another shot at making it through his military training.
It is our honor to be able to welcome home Dusty, a Rakkasan from the 101st ABN division. This party will take place in concert with his daughter’s 1st birthday party and the family has asked for our assistance.
I hope to see you all at this joyous occasion. All vehicles are welcome! This is a rain or shine event. If the family name sounds familiar it’s because we welcomed home his brother and sister in law, Taylor and Maureen.
Details:
Date: August 23, 2008
Staging location: Home Depot parking lot,
Route 12/59
Fox Lake/Volo, IL
Staging time: 12:30 PM
Mission Brief: 1300 hrs (1:00PM)
Departure: 1330 hrs (1:30PM) We will have LEO support for this event.
Make sure that your flag / flag mount are secured prior to this event.

Jon & Ladynighthawk... ( I am also the very proud daughter of a Korean War Veteran)Thank you so much. I have to say the typo" Dusty Rakkasan" is awesome & fits him to a T. I cant begin to tell you how much your Welcome Home for his brother Taylor & his fiance Maureen meant to them & to my family. How amazing it was to see the gratitude & honor you all showed them. I know Dusty will be as overwhelmed as we were . Thank you for all you do for our troops. It is something they will carry with them all of their days. I would like to extend an invitation to all again for all you can eat & some great times. I will see you all soon!!! |

A Prayer for Our Soldiers' Families
Heavenly Father, we pray for the safe return home of our soldiers from Iraq and Afghanistan. We ask that you give our military commanders and political leaders wisdom and courage to fulfill their daunting responsibility. Lord, we implore you to please remember the families of these brave men and women. Bless the wives, parents, children and siblings of our fighting forces and give them solace and comfort. If it be your will, bring their loved ones home swiftly, sound in mind and body.
We pray these things in the name of the Son, the Father and the Holy Ghost,
Amen |
