19 Jun 2008 10:06 AM Alert
CONFIRMED: Welcome Home Celebration for SSG Trenton Clay Hatfield on Sunday, July 6th

SSG Hatfield's wife has finally received word from SSG Hatfield about his flight arrangements and times. He will be leaving Germany tonight and is to arrive in Atlanta at 9:00 AM on Sunday morning, July 6th. He is scheduled to leave Atlanta and arrive at the Greensboro, NC (GSO) Airport at 5:34 PM. There may be a possibility of him catching an earlier flight after he arrives in Atlanta, but I have set up the staging time and agenda as to accommodate most of the other arrival times as well.
     Here is the agenda:

          2:00 PM            Staging at Shoney's Restaurant (I40 exit #210 and Hwy 68)
Located off service road, behind McDonald's
Staging will be in the parking lot behind Shoney's
Arrive early if you want to eat lunch with some of us.

2:15 PM            Arrival of SSG Hatfield's wife (Crissy), children and family

2:30 PM             Ride Briefing and Safety Instructions

2:45 PM             KSU - Escort family to Piedmont Triad International Airport (PTIA)
                                           Greensboro (GSO), NC

          3:00 PM             Arrival at Airport
This will allow for the security screening and other preparations

In case of an earlier arrival of SSG Hatfield, some minor changes will need to be made, but the staging time will remain the same. It is very important for everyone to be there No Later Than
[uΤ:15 PM. Mrs. Hatfield will be keeping in close contact with me by cell phone and keep me informed about any more details.
Please understand, with as many people participating in this worthwhile Welcome Home Event, there will be no way that I can call each of you individually. IF, I get any more information tonight or first thing in the morning, I will post this information on the website before 10:30 AM. Otherwise, adhere to the above schedule.
Thank you all so very, very much for your patience and understanding. Welcome Home Celebrations are usually a moving target and almost impossible to predict exact times and dates. It will all be worth the time, effort and your patience when we are able to welcome home SSG Hatfield and see him reunited with his family and loved ones. I know what we have all been through, but I can only imagine the frustration and disappointments that SSG Hatfield and his family have endured. Keep them in your thoughts and prayers as we do all our men and women that fight for our freedom.
REMEMBER: If you have NOT submitted your FULL NAME and DATE OF BIRTH as it appears on your driver's license OR if there is anyone else who would like to join us, have this information to me NO LATER THAN 8:00 PM (EST) tonight so I can submit the final list to airport security. Without this information, you will NOT receive a non-boarding gate pass and will NOT be allowed to go to the gate. I will review the list at the briefing tomorrow afternoon at 2:00 PM. We will need to combine passengers in vehicles (Cages) to limit the number for parking purposes.

This welcome home is once again on hold.   SSG Hatfield is still in Iraq and continues to have problems securing a flight out.   Keith, (RC), has been in regular contact with Mrs. Hatfield and as you can imagine, she and the SSG are both depressed over this latest in a series of delays.

Please continue to watch this thread as Keith will be updating it just as soon as he gets confirmed information from Mrs. Hatfield.  Thank you all for your patience and your continued good wishes to the Hatfield family.

Stay tuned folks...  this welcome home WILL happen.

There has been yet another change of date for this welcome celebration. SSG Hatfield's projected arrival at PTIA Greensboro, NC Airport (GSO) s now July 4th . Due to all aircraft being grounded, his flight was delayed again. I will post another update as soon as I know the firm date and time.  I am in contact with Mrs. Hatfield and she will advise me when a solid date and time are available.

I appreciate your patience and understanding, but as you know, Welcome Home dates are generally a moving target especially when the hero is located in a war zone. I know this is the 4th of July Holiday, but please join us in making this the best 4th of July SSG Hatfield and his family could have and one that will be truly heart warming for us all.

Anyone wishing to particpate should contact me with their full name and date of birth as it appears on their driver's license. You can pre-register up until the night before this celebration. Those individuals that have already registered with me should contact me to confirm your participation or to notify me of the their cancellation so that I have a current listing for airport security.

Thank you,
Ride Safe,

Standing for Those, Who Stood for US!

Patriot Guard Riders

 ===========================================================

Welcome Home SSG Trenton Clay Hatfield

Tentative date - on or about June 29 or 30 - time to be determined.

SSG Trenton Clay Hatfield who serves with the 10th Mountain Division, 1st Brigade Combat Team, A Company has served over 16 years in the military and has been deployed since September 4, 2007 to Kirkuk, Iraq. He is finally coming home for his mid tour leave the end of June. He is scheduled to leave Iraq on June 29th and has been instructed that this will be an 18 hour flight. The date and time is tentative due to the fact that the weather and other conditions and circumstance may alter the actual arrival of his flight into the Piedmont Triad International Airport (PTIA) at Greensboro (GSO).

SSG Hatfield's wife, Crissy Hatfield, who is stationed in Region 3 at Fort Drum, New York has contacted the North Carolina Patriot Guard Riders and requested our assistance in setting up a Welcome Home for this hero. She stated that in his over 16 years of service to our country, he has never had a welcome home reception.

Crissy is a member of the New York Patriot Guard Riders and will be coming down to North Carolina to meet her husband. She will be unable to ride since she is scheduled for spinal surgery in July, but wants the NC PGR to be by her side. Keith Arbuckle is keeping in close contact with her and she will be passing on any details and information to him as it becomes available. We will keep the website updated as new information is received.
Keith Arbuckle will be the Ride Captain in Charge (RCIC) for this mission with the assistance of Ride Captain Marcus Collins.  Keith is the point of contact and any correspondence should be directed to him
.

Staging will be at a location, to be announced, near the intersection of I40 (Exit #210) and NC Hwy #68 outside of Greensboro, NC. We will stage at a date, time and location to be announced, have the ride briefing and await the arrival of Crissy and the rest of the family. We will then escort the family, with full display of flags, to the airport which is approximately 5.5 miles from the staging location.

Once at the airport, a special reserved parking area, near the terminal will be established for the family and PGR. A reserved private room will be provided for the family and PGR members in the airport. Close to arrival of the airplane, we will establish a flag line at the gate, (or on the tarmac, if permitted), and await the arrival of SSG Hatfield's plane. There will also be a flag line established at the baggage claim area in the terminal and at the exit leading to the family vehicles.

Keith will need everyone's full cooperation in setting this up. ALL those individuals that will be going to the gate, (or tarmac, if permitted), will need to submit their full name, (as it appears on their driver's license), and their date of birth in order to obtain a non-boarding security clearance pass. He will need this information no later than 12:00 noon on Friday, June 27th so this can be submitted to the airport security. This information will be kept in strictest confidentiality and will ONLY be shared with the airport security. Keith has also arranged for the passage of family and friends to participate and receive this special pass, provided the required information is provided. We want to take this opportunity to show SSG Hatfield, his family, and friends, what the PGR is all about.

Once SSG Hatfield and his family are ready to leave the airport, we will escort them to their destination outside of Kernersville, NC. We are working on arranging local LE to escort us from the airport to their destination which is 19 miles from the airport.

Keith wants to take this time to extend his deepest and most sincere appreciation to Senator Richard Burr of NC, Ryan Combs, Legislative Assistant to Senator Richard Burr,  and last but not least, Jim Carter, USMC Retired, Airport Security Coordinator for the PTIA. Without the assistance and help of these outstanding individuals, this would all not be possible.

Please follow this thread for updates to the mission and if you have any questions and/or want to submit the necessary information, contact:

If this is on the 29th I can make it.  If I don't have a flag for the flag line, but want to be involved in the escort home is that cool, or should I run out and get my own Old Glory?
