Ladies and Gentlemen of the SC PGR,

This, I believe, is the final big push.  We have done well but I know you are tired.  I know you've been stretched to the limit in welcoming our soldiers home.

Please.........just this one last push.  We need you today.  Ron is worn out.  Bruce don't look too good either.  All the Ride Captains have pushed themselves.  All our riders have worked.  Let us work to make this day our best yet and finish with a flourish.

Remember, this might be the 2nd or 3rd or 5th time you've ridden a welcome home to the same armory but.........for that young man coming home from combat this is his 1st welcome home.

                                                               Ride Report

With many escorts taking place today I was concerned I may be the only Bike to attend the Newberry welcome home
I arrived a little after 3 mainly because I was concerned the troops may be just a bit earlier than expected. I was soon joined by Bethiemae.
I spoke briefly with Lt Johnson Newberry LEO. He was already in place waiting.
The Newberry County Fire Department had one of their trucks to suspend a flag over the road leading up to the Armory.
It soon became evident it was only going to be Beth and myself.
Around 3:50pm we were told by Captain Gonzolas that they were on 26 and would arrive in about 15 minutes.
Beth and I headed to our rendezvous point at the interstate and waited....Bless his sweet heart Mr Ronny Hunter from Newberry fell in line behind us.  We had 3 bikes. I was  proud!!
Around 4:20 a truck driver who came off the interstate leaned out his window and said they are two minutes behind me.
We cranked our bikes and sure enough there they were.
We escorted them from the interstate to the Newberry Armory where a gathering of family and friends waited waving flags.

The Troops entered the Armory to the clapping and yelling of welcome home
Chaplain COL (R) Larry Kelly gave the invocation.
Guest Speakers included BG Livingston 218th eSB/CJTF Phoenix Commander and COL Johnson Tag Rep Director of Military Support.

Once the benediction was given the troops were dismissed.....
Awesome just awesome!

I also must add this was a special mission for me One of my oldest and dearest friends came home today in this unit...Sgt Todd Johnson this was his 3rd tour.

I want to personally thank Steam for all his help and know how, the Newberry  County Sheriffs Department, The Newberry County Fire department, Captain Bob Gonzolas, Beth*Bethiemae* Gray and Ronny*Coach* Hunter

Ride Report from West Columbia:

It was less than 24 hours when I posted my staging information yesterday evening and I was hoping for the support of our riders from the Midlands. You showed up as I knew you would. We've done several homecomings at the W. Columbia Armory and you were with me every step of the way. I thank you from the bottom of my heart just as those soldiers and their families thanked you for being there for them. And I thank LT. Gantt for his help and support of the Patriot Guard Riders. Two weeks ago many from the Midlands didn't know who the Patriot Guard Riders were. You helped to change that.

We had 2 new riders join with us today. Thanks for standing with us Ed and Charley, I hope our paths cross again.

Catch your breath and get ready to ride once more. Please join Ride Captain Dale Austin as we pay honor to one who paid the ultimate price for our freedom. Let's stand again for SFC Koon in Leesburg this coming Saturday afternoon.

What a ride it's been the past couple of weeks. I'm about worn out. I'd so it again though! Memories of these past 2 weeks will be with me for a long time. We touched lives, we made a difference. That's what it's all about.

Ride report for Rock Hill

Today was a beautiful day. We had 10 bikes that staged early and once the bus route was figured out Barry with Rolling Thunder lead that crew to escort them. Like on Saturday, we had a dad in the motorcycle escort who’s son was on the bus. We had 3 bikes and a cage stage (plus my cage) for the flag line. As the time grew near we organized a flag line and ALL 70 of the flags were used. The Rock Hill fire dept. had 2 ladder trucks that made a ladder arch with a flag. As soon as they were close to Rock Hill Hackman called me, he had just got off of work, and he was able to fall into the escort. The sight was awesome when the bikes brought the bus into the armory.

Just like last Wednesday and Saturday, we followed the soldiers into the armory and held the flags during the ceremony, which was kept short and sweet. It was such a good sight to see our soldiers dismissed and ordered to see their families. So many moms and dads and sisters hugging their sons, dads hugging their kids and wife…just awesome.
Every person who did this mission pitched in and made it happen. It really is an honor to work with such fine people.

WELCOME HOME 218!!!

Ride Report for Fountain Inn

I feel badly for those who had just a few bikes.  We had 12 in Fountain Inn who gathered in a light rain and prepared to ride just one more time for soldiers returning to the Fountain Inn National Guard Armory.

All worked well and the drizzle had us ready for the fire department's water salute.  The troops and their families were appreciative.  In fact, during the announcements PGR was thanked for the escort and families and troops applauded.

This has been a grueling, wonderful three week trial for the PGR in South Carolina.  God bless you tough people.
