| I apologize for not getting this posted yesterday afternoon, powers beyond. This is a short fuse mission and will change before the staging time due to Virginia State Police does not want us again in the escort. Right now there is a POWER TRIP amoungst the Virginia State Police. For base entry, just make sure you have your ID, (drivers license, ret/act ID card), Bikers=helmets, boots, gloves and no shorts. Please use your common sense for entry. BASIC RIDING GEAR. If you have followed the Virginia Welcome Home threads, this is a part of the thousands of troops coming home to Virginia. Each District in Virginia has had a Welcome Home or is schedule to do same for these Heros. We are bringing home many troops this month, so please come out and show them you are honored of their service. Thanks. |

Virginia/North Carolina Patriot Guard Riders,
Due to Virginia State Troopers not allowing the Patriot Guard Riders to be in the escort portion of todays mission. We will stage at Bone Shakers Saloon from 12:30-1:00pm today, this will be a dress rehersal for Saturday. The plan is to form a corridor of flags at the back gate enterance to Camp Pendleton, follow buses on base. As the Soldiers are unloading Buses, the PGR will line up on "D" Street, the troops will form up in formation and follow the bikes down to the Parade Grounds to their arrivng Family and Guests for an Official Welcome Home ceremony.
All details will be put out at brief.
Sorry for the inconviences I may have caused to all the PGR.

It was an honor and privilege to stand the flag line for this initial advance element of the 2/183rd Cavalry Regiment's return. I was totally blown away when many of the Troops came over to shake our hand(s) and thank us… when they could have been heading “home” with their Mrs. To “catch up” on life, liberty and the pursuit of “happiness!” ;-)
Thank you 2/183rd for your service to our nation… the commonwealth of Virginia and Hampton Roads. I look forward to being their on Saturday (May 10th) to stand the flag line and welcome the remaining 350+ Troops home.

| Mission Complete, I want to thank the troops of the advance party of the 2/183rd Cavalry Regiment for allowing the PGR to come and celebrate their home coming. Thanks to Captain “Steele” McGonagal for working with us and inviting us. We plan to stand tall and proud for the remaining troops on Saturday. Nothing could have ruined this Home Coming, it could have rained/poured/snowed today but the best part of today was watching the Little Kids (ages 5-10) running across the parade field and dodging all the other soldiers yelling "Daddy". Thank you 2/183rd Cavalry Regiment Soldiers for the sacrifices you and your families make everyday while you are away defending our freedom. |

I was indeed honored and privileged to be a small part of this homecoming. Each homecoming is unique; this one was no different...yet, at each I still get a lump in my throat at the sight of this country's finest men and women "coming home." God bless each one of you, enjoy your families and enjoy the freedoms you have helped to ensure continue for your fellow Americans. From my family to you and yours, "Thank You!"

| Hi all! I am not a rider I am a poud wife of a member of the 2/183rd! I was trying to get directions to SMR for his return on Saturday and fell upon this page. I just registered so I could tell all you guys/gals thank you so much for your support! Reading your touching comments brought tears to my eyes. I am so grateful there is a group of people that really understand the sacrfices the soliders and their families make! Are any of you going to be out on Saturday? I would be honored to meet any of you and shake your hand. My husband is with HHT. It has been a very long 11 months(this was his second deployment in 3 years) playing single mom to 3 kids was very hard but knowing someone appreciated what my husband does for his family and country makes it all worth it! Thank you all! God bless you in all you do!
