It was an extreme honor and privilege for the Brooks family to be there with the Oakland community, Habitat for Humanity, Active duty Military personel, various dignitaries, and the family of honor, the Copes family.

We pray that this house that so many grateful hands built, will become a home that this precious family will find many years of love and hope in. It stands as a testament to the sincere gratefulness of our community for the sacrifices that brave heroes like SGT Joshua Cope and his family have made for us.

I attended a very special ceremony at the new home where a flag that was flown over our nation's capital in honor of the Cope family was presented and then flown up the new flag pole. They then unveiled a very special memorial at the base of the flag that honored Sgt. Copes fallen commrades and said "Home of the Free, because of the Brave." Spc. Dan Jens of America's Got Talent fame then sang a moving tribute to our heroes.

The official ceremony at the Oakland Charter School then followed with the presentation of the keys to the Cope family where they recieved a standing ovation from all who attended.

Joshua, Erika, and Laney,
Know that you will continue to be in our prayers and that we will always be grateful for the sacrifices you have made for us and the inspiring example you continue to be for us all. God Bless you!!!
