The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited to attend the welcome home ceremonies for Ft. Carson based soldiers returning from the Sandbox. OPSEC rules prevent us from releasing too much information, but these troops have been deployed for 15 months and will be very excited to be home..

Please note, this will be a VERY LARGE contingent of troops, so please try and make it if you can.

This mission will consist of the standard 3 parts. We’ll greet the troops as they deplane, then escort them to Ft. Carson, then participate in the official ceremony.

As of now (and note that this is subject to change, please watch this thread) we will stage for this mission at the McDonalds on Powers and Airport at 1500 (3:00pm).

Ride Captain to be determined.

Thank you.

I would like to say a big thank you to all the riders who showed up for the 18 Nov welcome home for the soldiers of 1-6 CAV returning from Iraq. After a 15 month deployment I could only think of getting to see my family once again and hop back on my bike. The faces although unknown, was a pleasant sight to see when debarking the plane. I had never heard of the PGR's, but find what I have read about your group truly gratifying and well worth the membership. As I will soon be retiring from the military and returning from to Virginia I hope that I can find the PGR's within my area there.

Thank you again for taking the time.

Best regards,

Kevin Woodrum

Kevin Woodrum it was a privilege to be at the plane to welcome you and your fellow troops home on the 18th. I am very glad I had a chance to Thank You for my Freedom. Don't know what part of Virgina you will be in but I had the pleasure of meeting some of the Virgina PGR when I attended a funeral at Arlington. They are a great bunch.

I will be there for this so I can welcome these heroes face to face. Thank You Troops for my freedom.

I will be driving down from up here in the Frozen North and will be in the Truck. As of now I have three empty seats if anyone wants to ride along. Call me at (808)783-4467 and we will work out time and place of pick up. If the time does not change I will leave Ft. Collins about 1230 (if the time changes before I leave I will leave about 3 hours before the new time).

Anticipating that a number of folks may cage this one since the ceremony will end after dark, and given the fact that the McDonalds parking lot is pretty small, we will move the staging area over to the Loaf and Jug.

Look for us right after you turn off Airport Road...

For those who haven't attended one of these ceremonies, Ted is absolutely right. You will not forget this event!

I am on my way out the door for the day. I plan on heading down to the Springs by about 1230. If there are any changes to the time on this can someone call me at (808)783-4467 and let me know. Most important is if it gets any earlier so I can head down sooner. Anyone who needs a seat to ride in who is between Fort Collins and the Springs give me a call before 1230 and we can work out pick up time and place.
