Staging Instructions, Eleanor, WV, 4 December 2008
Staging for the Eleanor portion of this mission will be as follows:
We will meet at the McDonalds in Winfield, WV on Rt. 34, located right near the Winfield Bridge, between 09:30-10:00 am. Gas, food, hot coffee, and restrooms are all right there together; please take this opportunity to fill your fuel tank. The McDonalds is right across the river from the Eleanor Armory. At 10:20, we will pull out as a group, cross the bridge, and stop at the Armory.
This will be a lengthy escort mission (about 150 miles), and I realize some may not be able to make the entire trip…that’s OK. If you can only ride/drive part way, we still want you to come, even if it’s just for a small portion of the trip. We will be escorting the convoy on a local route for about 20 miles, or so, before getting on I64.
Once we get on I64, we’ll be heading towards Charleston and the WV Turnpike. The Turnpike Commissioner has graciously arranged for us to transit through each toll booth, without having to stop. As we approach each toll booth, please stay to the extreme right hand side. Our ultimate destination is Bluefield, WV.
If you plan to do the entire route, please base your iron horse/cage decision on the weather, and be mindful, it will probably get colder the further south we go, due to the change in elevation. I would advise checking the weather for Beckley and Bluefield early on the 4th.
I would encourage each one who can, to come show your support for these departing soldiers...they deserve our respect and support.

Our debt to the Heroic men and Valiant women in the service of our country can never be repaid . They have earned our undying gratitude. America will never forget their sacrifices (President Harry S. Truman)
During these days of many trials and tribulations that our land of the free are facing, let us remember to hold our heads up high in remembrance for those who gave thier life for our freedom and those that are still in harms way for this cause. Pray for the brokenhearted and proclaim victory for those who are held captive. Lord, You are the light of the world and we declare You to be Lord over every nation. We know your light shines in darkness and the darkness does not always comprehend, but we also know You light will always prevail. Amen. Chaplin, Lorraine Richmond.

I wish you all in 1/150th Armored Recon unit God Speed and a safe return. It's hard deploying from family, frineds and home just before the holidays... The 3 Doors Down Song sums it up on target....
Citizen Soldier
Beyond the boundaries of your city's lights, Stand the heroes waiting for your cries. So many times you did not bring this on yourself, When that moment finally comes, I'll be there to help.
On that day when you need your brothers and sisters to care, I'll be right here. Citizen soldiers holding the light for the ones that we guide from the dark of despair. Standing on guard for the ones that we sheltered, We'll always be ready because we will always be there.
When there are people crying in the streets, When they're starving for a meal to eat, When they simply need a place to make their beds, Right here underneath my wing, You can rest your head.
On that day when you need your brothers and sisters to care, I'll be right here! Citizen soldiers holding the light for the ones that we guide from the dark of despair. Standing on guard for the ones that we sheltered, We'll always be ready because we will always be there...
There... there... there...
Hope and pray that you'll never need me, But rest assured I will not let you down. I'll walk beside you but you may not see me, The strongest among you may not wear a crown.
On that day when you need your brothers and sisters to care, I'll be right here! On that day when you don't have the strength for the burden you bear, I'll be right here! Citizen soldiers holding the light for the ones that we guide from the dark of despair. (Citizen soldiers) Standing on guard for the ones that we sheltered, We'll always be ready because we will always be there.
