Ladies and Gentlemen,

The family of Harvey E Sargent has invited us to honor him on Monday, July 7th at Lincoln Memorial Chapel

Mr. Sargent was born on November 8, 1921 and died on June 25, 2008.  He honorably served his country from 1939-1945 in the United States Navy and discharged at the rank of Gunner's Mate First Class.  Along with seeing substantial action during WWII, Mr. Sargent survived the bombing of Pearl Harbor.  He was a true patriot and extremely proud of his service.

Rest in peace Mr Sargent

Our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Harvey E Sargent, WWII Navy Veteran. May God help you though this difficult time and sorrow. He is one of America's Heroes that will never be forgotten.

Rest Safely and Securely in God's Loving Arms, Harvey.

Going home, going home,
I'm just going home.
Quiet-like, slip away-
I'll be going home.
It's not far, just close by;
Jesus is the Door;
Work all done, laid aside,
Fear and grief no more.
Friends are there, waiting now.
He is waiting, too.
See His smile! See His hand!
He will lead me through.

Morning Star lights the way;
Restless dream all done;
Shadows gone, break of day,
Life has just begun.
Every tear wiped away,
Pain and sickness gone;
Wide awake there with Him!
Peace goes on and on!
Going home, going home,
I'll be going home.
See the Light! See the Sun!
I'm just going home.

Our hearts go out the family and friends of Harvey Sargent. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Thank you for your service and sacrifice Veteran. You will not be forgotten.

We must never forget who gets the credit for the Freedoms we have, of which we should be eternally
grateful.

I watched the flag pass by one day,
It fluttered in the breeze.
A young Marine saluted it,
And then he stood at ease..
I looked at him in uniform
So young, so tall, so proud,
With hair cut square and eyes alert
He'd stand out in any crowd.
I thought how many men like him
Had fallen through the years.
How many died on foreign soil
How many mothers' tears?
How many pilots' planes shot down?
How many died at sea
How many foxholes were soldiers' graves?
No, freedom isn't free.
I heard the sound of Taps one night,
When everything was still,
I listened to the bugler play
And felt a sudden chill.
I wondered just how many times
That Taps had meant "Amen,"
When a flag had draped a coffin.
Of a brother or a friend.
I thought of all the children,
Of the mothers and the wives,
Of fathers, sons and husbands
With interrupted lives .
I thought about a graveyard
At the bottom of the sea
Of unmarked graves in Arlington.
No, freedom isn't free.

Ride report for Harvey E. Sargent:

As always, there were just enough Patriot Guard Riders to make this service work. We had 14 bikes and 17 members who formed a perfect flag line into the entrance of Lincoln Memorial Chapel. The funeral director asked me if we could have one of the bikes parked on the sidewalk in front of the chapel and Mr. Sargent's son owns a bike shop on Foster Rd. Roy Kirk was a friend of Harvey's and parked his bike with the stars and stripes waving proudly for the World War 2 Navy veteran. When the services started, we all adjourned across the street to the bikes to get ready for the next mission at WNC. Roy stayed behind to honor his friend and rode a solo bike escort to the grave site for the committal. Thanks to the men and women of the Patriot Guard Riders. You came from far and near to honor one of America's greatest generation.
