It is with a sad and heavy heart that I must post Tennessee/Kentucky has lost another Great American Hero, Staff Sgt. Bryan E. Bolander, 26, of Clarksville, TN, died in Baghdad April 29, 2008 from wounds suffered when his vehicle struck an improvised explosive device.   He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Ft. Campbell, KY.  SSgt. Bolander was on his 3rd tour in Iraq, he has been to Kosovo, he was a Sniper in a Scout Platoon. Ft. Campbell was his first and only duty station..... Some of his awards include prior to his death are Arcom with V device, Ranger Tab, and Air Borne Wings.  Posthumous will be given:  Bronze Star and Purple Heart.
 
He is survived by his mom and step dad, Toni and Robert Kahrmann, his fiancee', Sandra Comer all of Clarksville, TN; and his 5 year old son, Tyler Bolander of St. Louis, Mo.  He was due to marry on June 7th 2008 to Sandra, when he was due home on leave.

Staging Area:    From Nashville, Exit 11 and go under underpass, this road will become S. Riverside.  .  Go 3 red lights.  Just past the 3rd light on the right will be a Big Lots/Sticks n Stuff parking lot 1041 S. Riverside Drive.  Staging time is at 9 a.m.  KSU:  0945. 

Funeral:  Thursday, May 15, 2008 Visitation from 1000 - 1300 hrs, with services starting at 1300 hrs. at Sykes Funeral Home and Crematory, 424 Franklin St., Clarksville, TN 37040; Interment will follow at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West, just south of Hopkinsville on Ft. Campbell Blvd.

Escort:
  Thursday, May 8, 2008 0815 hrs. Outlaw Field to Sykes Funeral Home and Crematory, 424 Franklin St., Clarksville, TN 37040.  Those traveling from Nashville, we will stage at the Shell Station off I-24 W, Exit 40, Old Hickory Blvd. at 0645, KSU 0715 SHARP, those traveling from Clarksville or KY, meet in the Parking lot of Outlaw Field.  LEO's will be notified also for escort assistance.
 
Second Part
 
Visitation:  Wednesday, May 14, 2008 from 1500 - 2000 hrs. at Sykes Funeral Home and Crematory, 424 Franklin St., Clarksville, TN 37040. **No staging, please come to the funeral home with flags to stand in Honor of our Hero in the flag line outside the funeral home.**

 
Third Part
 
Funeral:  Thursday, May 15, 2008 Visitation from 1000 - 1300 hrs, with services starting at 1300 hrs. at Sykes Funeral Home and Crematory, 424 Franklin St., Clarksville, TN 37040; Interment will follow at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West, just south of Hopkinsville on Ft. Campbell Blvd.

DoD Identifies Army Casualty

The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Staff Sgt. Bryan E. Bolander, 26, of Bakersfield, Calif., died April 29 in Baghdad from wounds suffered when his vehicle struck an improvised explosive device.  He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky.

'No Greater Love is this that a man is willing to lay down his life for another.' Only two men were willing to sacrifice their lives for us-Jesus Christ and the American Soldier. Neither of which can ever fully be repaid.

Thank you for your Service and my Freedoms. Your sacrifices will never go unnoticed. I am grateful to live in a country made up of volunteers like you. Your choice to protect our Nation and put your self on the line can never be repaid.
