Our country has lost another of the greatest generation.  Edward Mathesin passed a couple weeks ago in Ft Lauderdale.  He was indigent and without family or friends.  No veteran who served our country deserves to go unnoticed. Mr. Mathesin will be interred with military honors on Friday, November 21 at 2:00 PM at the South Florida VA Cemetery in Lake Worth, Florida. Because of caring Patriot Guard Rider members and the media, this hero will no longer go unnoticed.  The media has become aware of this humble mans’ passing and his years as a WWII Veteran and subsequent burial on Friday and have chosen to cover the event for their local broadcast and newspapers. Mr. Mathesin will no longer be an indigent veteran.  He will be honored as he should have been all along.

I encourage all who can to turn out on Friday to say thank you, pay their respects and honor his service to our country.

Friday, November 21 at 2:00 PM
South Florida VA Cemetery
6501 South SR 7
Lake Worth, Florida

Staging;  1315-1330 hrs at the VA Cemetery office

Briefing;  1330 hrs

The legacy of Edward Mathesin involves military service and for that we are most appreciative to have been recipients of his commitment, bravery, and sacrifice during his enlistment. Rest in peace soldier. Thank you for not only standing for us, but also for the benefit of generations to come.

Rest in Peace Edward. You are an American Hero who will NEVER be forgotten.

Rest Safely and Securely in God's Loving Arms, Edward.

Going home, going home,
I'm just going home.
Quiet-like, slip away-
I'll be going home.
It's not far, just close by;
Jesus is the Door;
Work all done, laid aside,
Fear and grief no more.
Friends are there, waiting now.
He is waiting, too.
See His smile! See His hand!
He will lead me through.

Morning Star lights the way;
Restless dream all done;
Shadows gone, break of day,
Life has just begun.
Every tear wiped away,
Pain and sickness gone;
Wide awake there with Him!
Peace goes on and on!
Going home, going home,
I'll be going home.
See the Light! See the Sun!
I'm just going home.

Final Inspection

The soldier stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now,soldier.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?"
The soldier squared his shoulders and said,
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't.
Because those of us who carry guns,
Can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays,
And at times my talk was tough.
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.
But, I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep....
Though I worked a lot of overtime.
When the bills just got too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God, forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place,
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around,
Except to calm their fears.
If you've a place for me here, Lord.
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don’t, I’ll understand.
There was a silence all around the throne,
Where the saints had often trod.
As the soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now,soldier
you’ve borne your burdens well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven’s streets;
you’ve done your time in Hell."
