******************************************************************************* The family of Veteran Frederick Martell has asked the Patriot Guard to take part in his services.
"My family would be honored to have the PGR set up a flag line at his Celebration of Life on October 12, 2008 at Peace Lutheran Church Washington, Missouri (5 Scenic Drive) from 1:30 - 3:30 with fellowship following at the Church. Frederick, deployed as a cartographer during the Korean War, served proudly in the Air Force from February 8, 1950 til December 15, 1953.
He was awarded the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and National Defense Service Medal, with his most significant duty assignment with the 45th Tactical Recon Squadron.
A member of the International Association of Bridge, Ornamental, Structural and Reinforcing Iron Workers from 1957 until his retirement on disability in approximately 1987. A majority of that time, he was a member of the Iron Workers Local 396 in St. Louis. One of his proudest contributions to this great industry was being a member of the construction team that built the St. Louis Arch.
Frederick passed away on Monday, September 29 after a battle with Brain Cancer with his wife, and daughters by his side. He requested that the inscription on his grave marker read: Loving Husband, Father, and Grandfather; Proud American.
