Updated 21 July 08 0958 Cdt by Sandra

This has changed to a two part mission, with a celebration of life in South Florida (Miami) and burial at Arlington.

Miami Part:
After speaking with the family of Pfc. Sergio S. Abad, I was informed that his decision was to have a celebration of life in his honor instead of a memorial service.  They have invited the Patriot Guard Riders to stand in silent respect for their hero at a celebration of his life in South Miami on Sunday July 27th 2008.

Pfc. Sergio S.  Abad  stood for us in the sandbox, now it is our time to STAND and HONOR this hero who gave the ultimate sacrifice.

THIS IS A FLAG LINE ONLY MISSION.

Mission details:
South Miami Elks Lodge
6304  SW 78th Street
Miami,Fl
Directions   I-95 south to the end, then onto route 1 (Dixie Hwy), head south.  As you pass the South Miami Hospital on the right, take a left at SW 63rd Street, there will be a Taco Bell on the left  and a  Hess gas station on the left:  63rd Street goes right between.  The Elks Club is straight ahead.

STAGING:1430 HOURS
BRIEFING:1445 HOURS
--FLAGLINE:1500 HOURS
CELEBRATION:1600 HOURS--

Please bring your 3X5 flags to honor this hero who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

Our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Pfc. Sergio S. Abad. May God help you though this difficult time and sorrow. Know your son was and is a Hero to us all. Our thoughts and prayers are with you always. He will never be forgotten.

Rest Safely and Securely in God's Loving Arms, Sergio.

Going home, going home,
I'm just going home.
Quiet-like, slip away-
I'll be going home.
It's not far, just close by;
Jesus is the Door;
Work all done, laid aside,
Fear and grief no more.
Friends are there, waiting now.
He is waiting, too.
See His smile! See His hand!
He will lead me through.

Morning Star lights the way;
Restless dream all done;
Shadows gone, break of day,
Life has just begun.
Every tear wiped away,
Pain and sickness gone;
Wide awake there with Him!
Peace goes on and on!
Going home, going home,
I'll be going home.
See the Light! See the Sun!
I'm just going home.

As I get ready to write to you, the words fall away as almost meaningless because of the pain I know you feel. I know, because I have felt that pain.

Know that you are NOT alone on this difficult path. Others are there to help you: reach out and embrace them, for they are offering not only themselves, but sharing with you that little bit of the Almighty that resides in all of us. This offering/sharing is what WILL give you the strength you will need to get thru. Trust me.

Any service related death, on or off duty, whether accident or illness, wounds received or KIA, warrant the Gold Star for the family. Don't let anyone tell you different.

I offer you my services, such as they are. If you want to talk, feel free to get in touch with me thru the PGR messaging. I WILL return your call/message. ANYTIME!

In the meantime know that my wife's and my prayers are with you.

I met Pfc Sergio S. Abad when he was just a funny pre teen age kid..He grew up to be a good and courageous man.
He was an excellent martial artist, a loyal friend to his buddies, a Cuban-American PATRIOT, and a valiant soldier.
But he never lost his sense of humor.
I've seen his grandmother crying for this fallen hero and I only wish that he was here to make her laugh
away the tears.

My sympathies and condolences to the families of ALL these fallen heroes.
These warriors are in God's Army now, and they will never fall again.
