We mourn the loss of yet another member of “The Greatest Generation”. It’s because of the sacrifices of the past, so unselfishly rendered by heroes like James Douglas, that we have the freedoms our nation enjoys today. May the friends and loved ones of James stand proudly, knowing thousands of patriots across this country are very appreciative of those who have stepped up over the years, to defend America. Well done, Sir!

Rest Safely and Securely in God's Loving Arms, James.

Going home, going home,
I'm just going home.
Quiet-like, slip away-
I'll be going home.
It's not far, just close by;
Jesus is the Door;
Work all done, laid aside,
Fear and grief no more.
Friends are there, waiting now.
He is waiting, too.
See His smile! See His hand!
He will lead me through.

Morning Star lights the way;
Restless dream all done;
Shadows gone, break of day,
Life has just begun.
Every tear wiped away,
Pain and sickness gone;
Wide awake there with Him!
Peace goes on and on!
Going home, going home,
I'll be going home.
See the Light! See the Sun!
I'm just going home.

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED
James Elbert Douglas, U.S. Army Medic, WWII. Members of Mr. Douglas' family and many friends gathered at Hafer Funeral Home Elkview WV to Honor his life. Steve Holcomb his Grandson and PGR member from Georgia stood with the WVPGR to Honor this true American Hero! After the Funeral Service we escorted Mr Douglas remains to Cunningham Memorial Park St. Albans WV where he is to be interred.

Mr. Douglas was a member of an U.S. Army all volunteer unit that parachuted into Japanese-occupied Burma with the very dangerous mission of locating and destroying a Japanese radar station. With the mission accomplished, they attempted to rendezvous with allied aircraft to take them out of Burma after the mission. But the Japanese were waiting for them and they had to skip their rendevous and walk out of Burma over parts of the Himilayan Mountains to India. Short on food and water and pursued by the Japanese forces they trekked 250 miles to safety.

It was an Honor for me to Captain this mission for the PGR.
